Been reading about the mysterious case of Maura Murray who vanished in 2004. Really fascinating case! There are elements that make it seen that she vanished willingly, but other clues pointing to foul play.

Some podcasts-

A documentary is in the works-

Really fascinating case for sure.

Seems on the surface that a troubled girl, with lots of stuff piling up on her, may have chosen to take her own life, or leave her old one for a new one. But some troubling clues along the way seem to cast doubt on those scenarios. There are witnesses just after the accident she had, and police got to the scene quickly but she was already gone. She’s never been seen since. If she killed herself, why has her body never been found? Too many questions.

Been following this case for literally years now but since it attracts the same sort of combative, conspiratorial nuttiness you occasionally find in Z research and because I tend to get rather invested emotionally, I have to keep my distance sometimes.

There’s a lot of weirdness surrounding this disappearance. While it’s obvious that some sort of escape plan was in play for Maura that night (whether permanent or temporary, we may never know), I don’t believe the accident was staged and police supposedly developed a number of suspects, suggesting that the official theory involves some sort of foul play. Plus, she went missing in New Hampshire, a tiny state boasting at least three unidentified serial predators and scores of unsolved murders/disappearances. With that in mind, one must necessarily remain agnostic and entertain the possibility that Maura Murray met a violent end by someone else’s hands.

My gut feeling is, that she is dead,at her own hands, but just a theory. I think she withdrew her last $300,went out and bought a bunch of alcohol, and planned on bringing it up to the mountains she loved so much, and ending her life. I think she started drinking on the way, and the accident was a result of her intoxication. I think she walked off,and to her death. Hard to believe that a predator would come along that fast. A witness in a house nearby, heard the accident and called police quickly. A bus driver came along a couple minutes later and stopped, and talked to Maura. She said that she had already called Triple A and was fine and did not need help. He knew she was lying because there was no cell phone svc up there then, there still isn’t today. He got home a few minutes later and he also called police. The police arrived at the accident scene pretty quickly,I think it was within 10 minutes, and she was gone. She had bought 2 big bottles of alcohol, and only one was found in the car. I think she walked off with the other one,and perhaps some pills, and ended her life not far away. The issue is, there was a major search and she was not found. If she killed herself, wouldn’t her body have been found?
I have seen her Father on tv and he comes across to me as a grieving concerned Family, but there is a growing number of People that suspect he knows more than he is telling. Listen to the podcast series, it’s truly perplexing

She could be VERY close by and still have been overlooked by searchers. Frieda Langer went missing while camping in Vermont back in 1950 and despite an exhaustive search, her body was not located. It was later found in a marshy area less than two miles from where she was last seen. The official cause of death was accidental (a fall and head injury followed by drowning). The exact same thing happened to Shannan Gilbert on Long Island less than a decade ago and it’s my belief that something similar could have happened here, especially given the proximity of the Ammonoosuc River.

Still, without a body, I’m uncomfortable completely ruling out the possibility of foul play. Depending on how long she was out there and how far she got on foot, the chances of her running into some ill-intending person are increased exponentially. Plus it doesn’t help that there were some SUPREMELY sketchy people in the area that night.

Who were the ‘sketchy people’?

[Who were the ‘sketchy people’?

Their names are out there but since this is a public forum, it’d probably be better if I PM’ed them to you.

Ah, yes. This is a case that I’ve been as interested in as I’ve been with Zodiac. The podcasts are great. James Renner is knowledgeable on the case, but he worries me sometimes because he has such strong opinions and theories that sometimes I wonder if he’s manipulated any events so that they fit. I’ve heard a lot of stories on it. I thought today’s guest on the podcast brought to life some interesting stuff.

All the best,

My assumption is that you’re talking about the bus driver as well as Rick Forcier. Public forum or not, that name has been out for a while on sites like Reddit as well as Renner’s blog, so nothing new there. I am convinced the driver was not involved, though Forcier did seem a little sketchy. Some recent news about this seems to point Forcier’s way, but the person leaking that information seems, themselves, sketchy.

All the best,

it is an interesting one .. ill try not to get caught in this ones vortex of time space continuum.. BUT she apparently left and took her keys.. wondering how they managed to check the trunk if they did? as the trunk does not look like it was jemmied open, it seems perfect in the photos. that would mean they would have taken time to call a locksmith, or the car was equipped with a trunk popper.

Edit..point being .. Wonder if they checked the trunk.

No, I’m not talking about the bus driver. He’s been thoroughly ruled out and in my opinion, there was never any good reason to suspect him in the first place. Forcier’s a different story. Police sure seemed to feel strongly about him and he definitely contradicted himself, giving a different version of his story each time he was interviewed. The guy currently accusing him may have his issues, but he is confirmed law enforcement and not the first ex-cop I’ve seen with a similar account of the investigation and its focus.

There are other persons of interest. The most high-profile, obviously,is the guy whose brother dimed on him and gave Fred Murray a stained knife that he thought could be the murder weapon. (Murray submitted it to the state crime lab but I don’t think it was ever tested, probably due to chain of custody issues.)
