If this article is right, 5 eyewitnesses had a say in the SF sketch and it was verified by Kathleen Johns. 3 would be the Robbins kids.
Are there two other 2 witnesses in SF? Or, if the article is inaccurate, how do we verify that?

Foulke and Zelms?
There is a newspaper article referencing “a man running into the Kahn playground” being seen by witnesses. My guess is there are two witnesses to this from nearby homes that are not publicly known. Only a fraction of the SFPD police reports on the Stine case have been made public. I’m sure there’s plenty more in there that none of us know.
The only way to come about this information is to get those police reports and that’s impossible because it’s an active investigation.

There was the 8 year-old who ID-ed several "possibles" (Xen Anthony, Robert West, a few names still redacted as of 2016). But this writer could be lumping the "two cops who pulled a goof" in with the Robbins kids. Toschi was quoted as saying they contributed to the revised sketch, although Fouke denied it, and other accounts indicate that it was done by the Robbins.

Not impossible at all.

How so? Departments won’t accept public records requests if it’s an active homicide investigation.

Getting your hands on anything Zodiac-related that has not been released by this point would be harder than seeing Santa and the Easter Bunny walking down the street together, according to multiple sources I have

I’ve didn’t need any official request forms to get the Zodiac reports found here: https://www.zodiackiller.com/ZodiacPoliceReports.html
Spoke to James Dean, former LE Vallejo, that worked the Zodiac Cold Case in the 1970’s.
I have found him to always be honest with his research findings.
Hi Zam*
Well, I was the first and only person That Lindsey and Rebecca ever spoke to other than the police and the police sketch artist (Morales). There was another young (12-ish) girl who was also present at the Robbins home, but proved to have seen much less and was not considered a witness for that reason plus her age. Almost all questioning of the kids regarding what they witnessed took place within 24 hours of the crime. They were consulted a few more times by SFPD, but mostly to look at mug shots. For some reason Toshi was not very impressed with the kids narrative and that resulted in him assuming he had wrung all the info he was going to get from them and, sayonara to them.
Those are the only two eye-witnesses to the Stein killing. I debriefed them over numerous hours, and I know what happened with/to those kids that night. Lindsay was the first kid to sit down with the artist. He wanted them separated so there would be no influence between kids about what they saw. The following day the artist had Rebecca sit down for a sketch session. Her sketch was compared with Lindsay’s, found to be nearly identical. The final sketch that everyone sees is the result of both kids making some minor changes to their combined image.
It’s an amazing account by Lindsay on how he actually chased the killer across the street with his grandfather’s WWII bayonet that he grabbed from a closet. Ironically, he was stopped by SFPD who needed info to begin a search and the PD didn’t get the whole story from Lindsey until the susp was long gone, North on Cherry.
The truth here is much stranger than fiction.
Hope that helps…
Jim

That’s interesting. Rodelli’s book says that Rebecca talked him out of grabbing the bayonet…
(*IF* Fouke didn’t come forward till November, he and Zelms couldn’t have contributed to the revised sketch — the wanted poster is dated Oct. 18th.)
With Jim’s permission I’m making a few tweaks to what he said in the email to Zam. First of all, Lindsey never went out on the street with the bayonet. My book is correct that Rebecca talked him out of it because she said that they didn’t know if the man in the cab had a gun or a knife.
The initial sketch was done with all the kids who were there that night and who presumably had seen something. I don’t know the exact number of kids who sat down with the artist. However, it wasn’t just Lindsey for the first sketch. A few days later Rebecca went to her father and said that she felt that she could do a better job because she had the longest uninterrupted look at the man, so Dr. Robbins asked that sfpd send Morales back out to the house and she did her own sketch one-on-one with him. When the two sketches virtually matched the kids knew that they had nailed the description. I do not recall the kids making any changes to the sketches other than what they reported in each of their separate interviews with Morales. That means the first session with all the kids together and the second session with just Rebecca. If any changes to the sketches happened after that I’m not aware of them. Certainly Fouke said that he had nothing to do with amending the sketches and Lindsey said that both sketches were done by the kids only and that he recognized them as such.
Lindsey did go out on the streets but he waited until after the man had left the cab and was headed up Cherry Street, so that he didn’t put himself in any danger. Lindsey crossed Washington Street to the northeast corner of Cherry and was watching the man walk up cherry when two officers pulled up and distracted him. When Lindsey looked up again the man was gone and he didn’t know in which direction he had turned or if he had gone straight.
Hope this helps.
