Cheri was Catholic. The Catholic and Episcopal religions have many of the same beliefs but they also have two big differences. Episcopalians do NOT believe in confession and Episcopalian ministers can marry. So, any connection with Ross and the Confession Letter really doesn’t hold much water, confession was not a part of his religious tenets growing up. The same holds true for Cheri possibly having made confession to Ross’s father, it just wouldn’t have happened.

Ross’s father was only a Catholic Minister.

He was only a Catholic minister. A minister in the Catholic Church can be a Bishop my friend. There is nobody in the church with the title Minister. Only the Protestant people have that title for their priests. And they don’t have a Pope either, like we do.

Thanks Seagull.

Not that whoever wrote it would have to be of any religion to confess, but when you consider the context of the letter, it rings Catholic to me.

You know what would have been interesting (imo)? To have been in Cheri’s church the following Sunday.

Maybe we’ll get lucky and this schoolmate went to Cheri’s church. :)

That is correct. There is no title of Minister in the church though. A deacon, priest. Bishop, etc. are in fact ministers of the Roman Catholic Church, but they are not called by that title. I know all about it, believe me.

i was raised catholic. the title "eucharistic minister" is used for someone who volunteers to hand out communion in larger churches where it would take forever for the priest to hand it out to everyone himself.

In fact I’ve never heard of a Catholic serial killer. Not that there have not been any Catholics who have done bad, it’s just not to prevalent.

I know all about it. That’s my point, they are not called minister as a title. You don’t go up to the guy and address him as minister. If you go up to a Catholic priest and address him as minister, that would be very bad. He is a minister, but that is not a title in the church. My uncle Sonny used to be one of the lay ministers. My buddy was one also. My wife’s cousin is a deacon. Never ever do you address them as minister. A good analogy is the Commander in Chief, who happens to be our president. You don’t call President Obama, Mr. commander in Chief, do you?

I’m Catholic(not a church goer though :? ) but I’ve forgotten all the rules, regulations, and practices.

Maybe the term ‘confession’ was like a Confession that a criminal would make to police, etc, and not a religious one

Hitler was a Roman Catholic alter Boy and wrote of wanting to be a Catholic priest.

Has there been someone who committed murder who was Catholic? I would say probably so.

I think Ted K was raised Catholic, but AK can tell you for sure.

I think he wants to take it all in first and get his computer fixed before he commits to posting on the site. I did mention it to him
