I wanted to start a thread about the People that knew Ross, and keep a running track of what they had to say.
Some of the names, we know,Alan Silliphant, Gerald Katz, etc.
It may be good to compare notes.

From the private Investigator, this is what somebody that knew Ross, Cheri,Tim,Katz, etc(I will not post this responder’s name here but some of you likely know who it is)

She hasn’t been in touch with Bonnie in a lot of years, and didn’t know Tim had died. She recalled that Bonnie had left Tim and thought it was because *******redacted***. She said that Bonnie had changed her name to something like Bonnie redacted, or something similar. she said she was in the same class as Tim (1964), and Bonnie was a year younger. She said Bonnie and Tim had stayed together for awhile because of their two kids (one was and she didn’t know the other one’s name), but that they had eventually split up. She thought that Bonnie had moved to Vancouver. She suggested a mutual friend and part of the high school group, ***redacted**, might know how to get in touch with her. She said he’s a professor at a university in Vancouver – she thinks he teaches English. She said that Ross had been strange – they used to go over to his house and he’d be wearing a bed sheet. She did not think it likely that Ross could execute a plan: “he was so fat as to be passive, and to plan and execute anything seems unlikely”. She said he drove a light colored VW beetle, and never knew him to drive a motorcycle, and further, that he was too big to drive one. She recalled that Ross would have fixations, and said that one time he liked a girl and did about 8 million sketches of her. She doesn’t recall who she was, but it was not Cheri Jo Bates.

This is affirmation that Ross drove a car!

And a light-colored one, no less! (Not that a VW Beetle could be easily mistaken for a Chevy Impala or Plymouth Valiant, no matter what color it was.)

"[…] that he was too big to drive one."

This runs counter to the current narrative that "Ross was 300lbs, but wore it like 225lbs!" or the like. This only affirms that Ross’s photos are misleading and he was noticeably obese.

The more we learn about Ross, the more I’m striking him off my Z suspects list. This one and the Santa Cruz affirmation are the final nails in the coffin in it, for me. I’m no longer in belief that Ross could have been Z.

Ya but..driving a VW.. Means ya know which end the motors in.. And the hoods were either locked or unlocked .. I don’t think they had an internal latch to pull. Knowing a VW is an advantage.. And the weight issue could change if you are committed . Put under a drug regime and given a healthier diet. Released to do it all again..

Okay, entitled to your own opinion for sure. But,unless my eyesight is going,or I have been left out of the loop, is there a photo of Ross that shows him looking ‘obese’ that I have not seen? Also, it runs opposite of the argument that "Ross didn’t drive and could not be Z". He did drive

yes, there was a handle you turned on the engine hood on the ’64 model,
and starting in ’65, there was a button you pushed. both latches were
keyed and they did not automatically lock. you had to lock or unlock
it manually with the key. more often than not, they were unlocked.
so it was an easy matter to open the hood and pull the coil wire. most
any 16 year old kid in shop class knew how to do this.

Hopefully someone can contact Terry, Phillip and/or Cindy Kennedy and be added to this list of people that knew Ross.

Too big for a motorcycle but not a VW Bug?

We have Bailey stating he drove a Motorbike, and the other person claiming he drove a VW. We have established that he drove, which is one big hurdle

I’m going to reach out to people that likely knew and worked w/ Darlene Ferrin at Vallejo House of Pancakes and/or Terry’s Waffle House in 1969-70. I invite people to help me find names in the 1969-70 Vallejo directory if you have ancestry.com

I previously found several people that worked there in those directories, and should have made a list but didn’t. You can not really search by employer or by international house of pancakes, so it all must be done just going page by page. If we make a list of cooks, waiters, etc,we can contact them and see if anybody knew or remembers Ross.

So far,I found a Vivian Nenniger. She’s dead. I found a Albert E. Mankins, alive & still in Vallejo!

Okay,I have at least 12 names that worked at Ihop or Terry’s in Vallejo 69-70,so I have enough names that I can send out letters. However, they are all waitresses. I would love to get the name of cooks, bust boys,or dishwashers, so if you can find any of those names with those occupations, pm me or post them, thanks

EDIT: Found all the names i need

I just had a nice long(hour or so)conversation with Terry Jr(of Terry’s restaurant) where Darlene Worked when she was killed. We talked about Leigh Allen, Lyndon Lafferty,George Bawart, and of course, Darlene Ferrin. I asked him about Ross Sullivan, and if he remembered him working at Terry’s. He didn’t remember him, but said he would look at a photo of him. He had hundreds of employees from the 60’s 60’s to the 80’s, but was proud that he knew, and remembered most of his employees. It was really cool speaking with him. He also confirmed that the police looked into any stalkers at the restaurant that may have been stalking Darlene, but he didn’t know of anybody.

Is there any way to determine when she made these observations about Ross’ size? If it was 1969-70, it probably rules him out. If it was later, it could explain why the Z killings stopped, but letters continued to 1974. And of course Ross’ death fits with everything Z related ending by 1977.
