The "lesser known sketch" had nothing to do with the actual Zodiac case.
That sketch I am confident, I saw hanging on a wall in a police station in old video. I went looking for it but didn’t have time to look for long

It debuted as a Fincher prop in 2007/2008. Why I do not know.
There is no evidence of that sketch existing until the 2007 This is the Zodiac Speaking documentary. I tried contacting Graysmith and the documentary producer but never heard anything back.
It just seems… new, I mean it looks modern and very professionally drawn. Not that it should be dismissed just because it looks "new", but it’s damn fishy.
It’s still a problem there are no know links between Ross Sullivan and Vallejo or the Bay Area.

Morf, can you give us more details about that video? We can help look for it with you.
I literally searched for hours one day and could not find it.

I’m speculating, but doesn’t it look just a little bit too… new? I know there are all kind of factors, but when you look at the other sketches, they both have certain patina to them and they seem a little faded. This looks like it was drawn not so long ago. Also it just looks so professional, I’m sure the police have good sketch artists, but this just looks more like a movie prop.
Is it that hard to establish it’s origin? Doesn’t anyone have a contact in law enforcement that can give us a yay, or a nay? Is it from the Fincher film?
If it’s real though, I mean come on, it’s almost too good to be true. I don’t put much faith in police sketches, but if this is authentic, the resemblance is incredible.

Its maybe Mandela Effect, but I think I saw in an old post from this forum or another of a photo from an old newsreel from 1969 where there was an older Zodiac sketch that I never seen after.
Yes, the Mandela effect. The more time I spend lurking these threads the worse it gets and I find myself accidentally starting rumours.

Hey Mike, I was watching the retro mini-documentary "ZODIAC: SIGN OF DEATH" from 1978 (probably the first documentary ever made about the case) and there appears a sketch I remember seeing it somewhere before. I don´t know it´s origin, but I suppose it was something created by someone unrelated to LE, maybe it was created at the request of those involved in the making of the mini-documentary.
Yup, Tom is correct. It was made in 1971 by the "Denver Post" artist Joe Barros, who did not inverview the eye-witnesses, and made it based on the original sketches, because he wanted to improve the "expression" of Zodiac´s face, something that led him to be criticized by the SFPD for it. So, it wasn´t created by those involved on the "Sign of Zodiac" mini-documentary and it was made earlier.
