Sorry Morf, I just sent you a message re. just this thing. I guess using the search engine isn’t as good as exploring the forums on your own. Sorry about that.

Specifically, has anyone found any of the weird poems he supposedly wrote? He supposedly wrote some in "Viewpoints", the school paper.

Looking the video and the description, this is kind of heating up for me. He was someone I gave a cursory look to at first, but he is starting to look more compelling due to the handwriting.

Oh I didn’t know Paul Avery was involved. Robert Downey played him very well. He is the investigator with the best handle on this case. His video makes it appear that Ross is surely the best suspect, by far. Thank god we still have Paul around, as his background with the case is beyond reproach.

PAULAVERLY, not the reporter, PAUL AVERY. The Reporter, Paul Avery is dead, not sure if you were kidding with that or not. :?:
As far as Ross being the best Suspect, that simply comes down to opinion. What is a fact, is that he is the ONLY Suspect that can be placed in the RCC library where the writing linked to Zodiac was found.

I have seen the posting by Paul Avery on this forum. I thought he was the real guy. I was unaware he had died. As far as being the only suspect linked to the library at the college, it is unlikely anybody but him was involved. I have always expressed the idea that the Zodiac would be found via the 1966 murder. As far as my opinion, as soon as I read about those women in the library. They knew who did it. The idea that they actually made mention that if Ross came back to the wall he
hung out on at the school, with new clothes on then he was the killer. And the next time he came back around, he got rid of his bloody clothes. That did it for me. Women always know these things. You can not fool a woman, unless she wants to be fooled.

Also, think about this idea. Would the Zodiac go 41 years without some form of correspondence? Unless he went totally insane and died, a relatively short time after the 1974 letters.

Who’s to say. If you look at possibilities, as far a suspects in the "out in the country" murders, the list is endless. The RCC murder of Ms. Bates, is a Clue, type of scenario . You have a finite number of people who could be suspects at this location. A sort of, Colonel Mustard in the parlor with the candlestick. An individual who was arrested for bring naked in a phone booth, etc., is certainly a viable suspect, to say the least.

Some evidence of intercourse between these individuals must be fostered. Somehow, somewhere, these two people crossed paths. That would solidify the theory that Jo Bates knew her assailent.

Personally, for me, I can’t see Z if he was still alive, not coming out and breaking his silence mentioning the movies and books about himself. I don’t buy that the Zodiac changed, was cured, etc. I think if he was alive,or not imprisoned, he would have broken his silence. I think he died after that last 1974 letter

But that doesn’t mean nothing. And the reason it doesn’t is the fact that this man must be nailed down. Somebody knows something about this guy, a neighbor, friend, co-worker, etc.

Take a look at this JTR doc, at 29 min in. They talk about how serial killers don’t stop unless they are forced to by some other reason, like incarceration or death.

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

Only two examples are given and they don’t go beyond stating that "some" serial killers stop killing. Of course some do.

Yes, they are examples. Of course some do stop and some don’t stop. The myth is that "serial killers don’t stop unless they are forced to…"
