..some things are annoying, although it works.

– no more than three pictures uploadable at all
– those three you have to upload one by one
– all of those are not allowed to have more than 256kb
– batch conversion therefore always necessary, not easy to read.

Yeah it’s a different system unfortunately. I’ll have to check out some of the things you are having probs with but TBH I’m not sure that anything can be changed or needs to be.

I’ve highlighted your 256kb query because I don’t know how or why you are having that restriction or if there’s something you are trying to do thats causing that. I posted an image here earlier QT viewtopic.php?f=100&t=694&p=4525#p4525 it’s 700ish kb and it posted no problem. I’ve posted multiple images before as well and I doubt any of them were below 256kb so there’s something wrong at your end maybe?

Can I ask please if this issue was ever resolved? I attempted to upload a picture but got a " file too big" notice and a maximum limit of 215 Kb.

Thanks

I posted a file recently at 238kb. I’m not sure its the file size that’s the problem but rather the file’s physical dimensions. There may well be a size limit but I think it’s the dimensions that will cause problems first.

I re-size all my images before I finalize posting them. I work by width as a guide and generally post around 600px wide depending on the image. I think it can take 1000px but I may be wrong and most images wouldn’t need that anyway. As a general rule I don’t go above 900px.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful. I’m assuming for the most part images will post as they are but some obviously require re-sized. There are plenty of web based programs that can do that for you and one has already been listed in the section pertaining to uploading avatars.

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=223

If anyone is really stuck they can always PM me and I’ll sort it. It is what it is. I feel that if everyone could learn to re-size the world would be a better place … somehow. :? :D

the picture size and dimension options are modifiable in the administration panel of a phpbb messageboard.

I suspect the reason there’s a cap is to stop images being posted that are ridiculously large and thus expanding the thread to an unfriendly and irregular width. With a cap in place there is at least some uniformity so we’re not having to endlessly scroll sideways to read posts because someone has posted a 1:1 scale map of California.

Thanks guys….I’ll try those options. It was a Google earth image but I know I posted similar and larger files previously!

Ahhh.

Some things are deceptive.

I just saved a Google Earth image to test it. It saves the Jpeg file and it’s size is 408kb. That’s the compressed file size created from GE but the actual size of the image is 1556x955px which is 540mm x330mm @ 72ppi and a file size of 4.25mb. Bigger than A3 in the really real world.

That’s for my settings but I think whatever you have the export set at in GE it’spretty big once it translates. That’s it’s default export so yours is probably the same or very nearly.

Yeah Trav, and my file was bigger again as I had marked routes and overlays etc. Back to the drawing board!
