You are really close, but:
There are 22,679.6 grams in a pound.
Are you sure about that?

Oops, looks like 453.592 grams in a pound. Hold on… gotta do some more math here. So 22,679.6 grams equals 50 lbs.

Ok, it comes out to each being $1,000 after rounding up. $999.9823633157 to be exact.

You win. The prize is a one pound bag of pennies. You have to pay the shipping and packaging, though. About 6 dollars.

Hahahahaha. I bet a pound of pennies is less that 6 bucks.

Yeah, it is. I just posted this whole question just to see how people would answer, after reading this article:

That entire site, DataGenetics just gives me a nerdgasm from all of the funny things they research and write about. It’s cool stuff:

Even for people that are not into math, or puzzles, or computing, there is some really interesting stuff there.

Thanks for posting that link. I love math and puzzles!

Say that someone said here are three fifty pound bags of U.S. coins. One bag contains dimes, one contain quarters, and one contains half-dollars. You can take any one of these three bags, but you have 5 seconds to decide. Which bag do you take?
-glurk
(Answer to be revealed later, if no one finds it first.)
Oddly, I know the answer, unless it is a trick question, all three have the same value so it doesn’t matter which you choose. The value of US coin currency based on weight is the same when it comes to dimes, quarters and half dollars. At least that is what my dad told me a long time ago when I asked him a similar question and he had me look it up.
To clarify-
This is not meant to be a word problem or any trickery like that. I just worded it rather poorly, to be honest. So let me re-state:
Bag #1 contains exactly 50 pounds of U.S. dimes, plus the weight of the bag itself.
Bag #2 contains exactly 50 pounds of U.S. quarters, plus the weight of the bag itself.
Bag #3 contains exactly 50 pounds of U.S. half-dollars, plus the weight of the bag itself. You may not open them, inspect them, combine them, or take more than one of them.
As of yet, no one has really posted the answer I was hoping for, so I will leave the question open.-glurk
Lol I’m still stumped bc if I can’t open or inspect which one has which coins I don’t know which one to choose. I still see it as a trick question. Is there something wrong with me? Lol
If the bags have what currency they are printed on them, then the dollar coin.
Edit: wow the answer is essentially what I said the first time but I didn’t reach my conclusion by computing. Lol
My Dad always asked this one:
I have two coins that total 35 cents and one is not a dime, what are the two coins?

A quarter and a dime…one of those is NOT a dime
