In the case of Macabre – they are more of a musical version of a true crime book. The reason one would listen to Macabre is the same reason someone would buy any book on any serial killer. It’s human nature to gravitate towards what we don’t know.

Take the ‘Dahmer’ album for example – it’s a biography.

Not only that, but their music is really good and original.

Here’s an album review for Macabre that has the Zodiac song on it.

"Depending on your point of view this remastered album Sinister Slaughter …from Macabre… is either good, clean, sick fun or done in bad taste. My feeling is that it perhaps lies somewhere in between, however make no mistake this is one of the finest examples of early extreme metal. I mean c’mon, where else are you going to find a whole collection of songs devoted to some of the world’s most notorious serial killers, not to mention the hilarious mock Sgt. Pepper album cover design.

…Whether you’re reveling in the devastating power of "Zodiac", "Killing Spree (Postal Killer) or laughing you ass off while singing along with the catchy chorus of ‘I’m going to strangle you and slit your throat too, I’m going to kill you just because I want to’ on "Vampire Of Düsseldorf"

http://www.seaoftranquility.org/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=6617

They also have songs called "Edmond Kemper had a horrible temper", "What The Heck, Richard Speck ( 8 Nurses You Wrecked)" and "Albert )Fish) was worse than any fish in the sea." and have someone dress up as the Zodiac during their concerts and perform mock executions of the band members.

Yeah, real educational stuff. This is clearly played for laughs or to "shock". Disgusting.

Whenever someone says ‘what the heck’ I always respond with "what the heck Richard Speck?" and not one single person has ever got it. "Vampire Of Düsseldorf" is one of Macabre’s best songs, but EVERY song on the "Dahmer" album is amazing!!

Despite what my former cranky posts might imply, I actually do like heavy metal music. Just maybe different stuff from the people on here.

Oakland’s Neurosis is one of my favorite bands.

Can’t we all just get along. LOL.

Here’s a Hank Williams country song covered by Volbeat, I REALLY like the singer’s vocals, he has a very powerful and unique style:

The best music ever made? ‘Trespass’…album of Genesis…’The knife’ is the last song on it, while the album actually had received some bad critics when released. According to wiki, the band had asked Paul Whitehead to change the album cover…he obviously was so annoyed by that so he was inspired to slash the canvas with an actual knife. The whole album an amazing one, imo.

Denmark has an interesting international small underground record label named Posh Isolation.

ophion1031 maybe you know of them ?

One of their artist, Mischa Pavlovski, with his debute LP "Kapitel", I IMHO find new, fresh and very interesting:

Make sure to listen to the record , streaming (vinyl LP, 4 numbers a’ ca 10 minutes) with as great headphones as possible.

Here some info/interview:

Interview with the artist:

Let me know what you think:)
