Varg is also a neo nazi/ white supremacist, so there’s that too.

I like Darkthrone better. As far as I know Fenriz isn’t a racist, but he did used to be kind of an idiot.

I think this whole teenager angst evil satanist thing is pretty played out. Immortal is my favorite black metal band, and they went away from BM to a more rounded metal style. Their lyrics are also not really about Satan and witchcraft, but basically a heavy metal version of Disney’s Frozen. haha. No matter what Horgh is sick on drums.

Darkthrone kicks ass! Mayhem kicks ass! I don’t listen to the traditional Norwegian Black Metal as much these days. Now I am more into bands like Melechesh, Hate Forest, Enthroned and Akercocke. Half of those Norwegian bands that claim to be Satanists are just doing it for shock value. Or at least back in the 90’s. Nowadays shock value basically does not exist. In the 90’s we had Tipper Gore trying to ban metal albums and censor everything she could. She lost that battle big time. Today’s metal is less of an artform IMO. Newer bands are mostly crap.

I’m a HUGE fan of New Age sounds. Secondarily, as befits my advanced years, I listen to Fifties Do-Wop.

Dead Kennedys "Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death" full album on youtube.

Classic!

Ah, that takes me back. Recently saw Jello Biafra in his new incarnation, playing with my former guitarist. I do miss the Bay Area!

You will not have heard of it, being of a different genre entirely and pretty low key (PM3), however the guitarist was Ralph Spight of Victims Family (and other incarnations, along with bassist Larry Boothroyd) — off-again, on-again with the Alternative Tentacles label.

Jamming a cool band called Screaming Monkey Boner from Minneapolis. Got to play a couple shows with them years ago. They put on a great live show. They are now known as Screaming Mechanical Brain. Wanted to sound more professional. They sound similar to Dog Fashion Disco if anyone is familiar with them.

Screaming Mechanical Brain definitely sounds more professional than Screaming Monkey Boner. LOL.
You certainly have eclectic tastes, ophion. I should probably expand my musical horizons a bit.

One of the worst bands ever! They helped deliver the final nail into the death of punk rock.

A friend of mine who is a stand-up comedian does this thing on stage where he has his guitar on stage and he will play a riff and then play the same exact riff from a different song. Years back I saw him play 4 or 5 different Green Day songs and then slowed the riff down to show that it was the same riffs from songs of the 60’s and 70’s. Proof that Green Day is very unoriginal. Here is a video of my friend on stage. I think he does one of the Green Day songs in this one…

Weird, I’ve either seen that comedian live, or someone else has the same bit.

I don’t like Green Day either, but I know some guys that went to Berkeley High and played in bands with them. I didn’t know if that was your scene or not.

JR tours all around the country. He’s not "famous," but he is somewhat well known. He’s been doing that bit for a long time. Maybe someone stole it from him, ya never know with comedians.

Yeah, I don’t like the whole "pop punk" thing. It’s funny to me. What an oxymoron! Punk is not just music, it’s an attitude and a lifestyle. Sorry Green Day and Blink-182 and Good Charlotte and all you other gay bands (excuse my language), but Iggy Pop would probably decapitate you if he had the chance!
