Hi,

The revised and newly edited print version of my original ebook, "The Hunt for Zodiac," titled "In the Shadow of Mt. Diablo: The Shocking True Identity of the Zodiac Killer," will be coming out on May 11th (next week!) from Indigo River Publishing. The ebook is also still available on Amazon and other platforms.

I can tell you that the print version is getting pretty much rave reviews from people who either worked on the Zodiac case or who have a large presence in the field of true-crime and/or homicide investigation.

Hi Mike, presumably the e-book you refer to as being "still available" is "The Hunt for Zodiac". Has the kindle version been updated or is there to be a new ebook for "Shadow"?

Many thanks.

The print book is essentially the same in substance to the ebook. It is just cleaner, tighter and received some much needed editing. Apparently the work my new publisher and I did worked because the reviews are more than I could have expected. I also removed some material and put that text on my upcoming website to make room for a discussion of the DNA developments from early 2018 and to discuss Bill Cosby lol.

The ebook version that is available remains the original title, The Hunt for Zodiac and the print book is just available in print.

and to discuss Bill Cosby

Cosby!? I knew it. That BOLO for a "negro male adult" at Presidio Heights was correct, after all:

Today is launch day for In the Shadow of Mt Diablo. It is getting excellent reviews from people like Dr. Cyril Wecht the world renowned forensic pathologist, retired NYPD homicide detective Vernon Geberth, who quite literally wrote the textbook on homicide investigations and who privately told me that he could not have done a better job himself of putting together the circumstantial case that I assembled, retired SFPD homicide Inspector Vince repetto and former San Francisco Chronicle reporter and author Tom Zoellner. And I’m sure that this is just the beginning of the positive reviews. The book has been revised updated and rigorouslyly edited with the help of my team from Indigo River publishing and I’m very proud of the final product we are putting out. It’s also heavily documented with about 200 footnotes and I think about 40 exhibits.

I believe that this book along with the reviews it is getting reinforce the notion that despite the reservations of many amateur investigators have expressed my suspect is either the prime one or even one of the prime ones in the Zodiac investigation, who needs to be carefully considered in this case.

If you’re looking for just the facts of the case there are several excellent books that talk about the Zodiac mystery. But if you want to know who may have actually been the Zodiac Killer, I hope you will read my book.

Also, after many years of being in mothballs, I’ve re-launched my website http://www.mikerodelli.com . There you will find additional information about the two young people who were chased at Lake Herman Road on the night of the Jensen Faraday murders, a possible scenario for how the Jensen Faraday murders took place, some food for thought on the coded messages and what they might possibly reveal about my suspect and also, musings on DNA and handwriting.

Reading it now (first chapters) and being impressed by the use of evidence from police sources to tell the story of the victims. It tells a more complete story through additional witnesses reports than I did not see in other z-related books.

Hi Eduard,

Thanks for the kind words and for your support over the years.

With the publication of this print edition, which is the culmination of the past 20 years of my life, and more specifically with the rave reviews it has received from such people as Dr. Wecht and Vernon Geberth, I feel that I have finally accomplished what I set out to do. Proving beyond any doubt that a given individual was the Zodiac killer is a monumental task. Therefore, my more immediate goal was to silence my many critics, who have called me all sorts of unflattering names over the years (a "nut case" or something to that effect by Kelly Carroll comes to mind–BTW, I wonder what the venerable Mr. Carroll thinks of Insp. (Ret.) Vince Repetto’s review of my book) and who have fought me tooth and nail on the virtually every subject pertaining to my suspect since day one, was to prove that mine is not some crazy, "fringe" suspect but one of the prime suspects, if not THE prime suspect, in the case.

I’ve had to explain over and over again why my suspect may not have licked stamps and envelopes. I’ve had to defend my work against the notion that someone like Ross Sullivan, who lived like 75 miles from SF when last I heard, was a better suspect than mine because mine lived "TOO CLOSE" to the Stine murder scene! They say that Z could not have lived 2.5 blocks from where Stine was murdered because they do not understand Zodiac’s arrogance and overall mentality. I’ve also had to hear person after person say that my suspect would not have gone back onto the streets so quickly after he got home from murdering Stine. I’ve had to explain tine and time again what happened that night and how Zodiac’s actions clearly indicate that he felt the police were not looking for someone who resembled him, probably because he believed that nobody had seen him murder Stine, when Fouke and Zelms slowed down and took a look at him and then just drove on by. It’s exasperating to have to explain things over and over again. But no more.

If you don’t believe that my suspect is a good one, that is on you now. I am going to refer people to my reviews if they are thinking about saying something unflattering because those reviews speak for me now and my book speaks for itself.

Now it is time to take on a new challenge and a different case. Either my suspect was or was not the Zodiac. I have no control over that. But regardless he is a legitimate prime suspect in the case and nobody should be saying that he is not precisely that anymore. If you do believe otherwise…then I welcome you to read my reviews.

I just noticed on Amazon this morning that one of the heavy hitters in the field of police investigations, retired NYPD Homicide Detective Vernon Geberth, who quite literally "wrote the book" on how police conduct homicide investigations with his textbook on the subject, as well as many, many, many other publications over the course of a long career, has posted his full length five star review of my book. It is very gratifying to see these professionals weighing in, people who have lived in the trenches of investigating and solving murder cases over the years, and giving me such high marks.

Although this does not appear in his review, Commander Geberth told me privately that he could not have done a better job of chasing down and assembling the circumstantial case that I make against the suspect in my book than I did.

It seems to me that I’m picking up a distinct pattern of there being a big divide between what many amateurs say about my book, my suspect and my research on MB’s and what professionals in the field say in their reviews. I’ll leave it to you, the reader, to determine why such is the case.
