I’m partially researching Zodiac and partially researching a case I’m working on pro bono (as a lawyer). I see that the Kennedy library in Vallejo has a searchable database of newspapers that is accessible by California residents only. I’ve tried to purchase private access to the database, but I struck out there. If anybody has access to the Newsbank.com database through California libraries I would be happy to pay for you to do a quick search of a couple names.
If anybody is interested, please send me a private message. Or respond to this post if the PM option isn’t available anymore.
Thanks.
Earlier this month they sent me all of their Zodiac articles in .pdf form.
Okay, but that’s not the search I want to do.
It is not clear from your wording if it’s two separate cases or two cases that are interconnected.
Without necessarily being specific as to name(s?), what info are you hoping to find, a mention of an occurence happening to petsons within a certain timeframe? , birth or marriage announcements? locational details? Ship departure/arrival times?
Seagull has experience of various datsbases & may be able to help.
There is also something called ‘lawyers in the library’ or ‘lawyers @ the library’ (with a facebook page) at Vallejo library, where lawyers do ~20 min consultations for free (“no lawyer-client privilege”) at occaisional specific times – maybe you could get one of those lawyers to do the search for you or ask for their permission for one of their clerks/paralegals to do the searching for you.
