But I would think the most likely way to have the opportunity to join the Klan would first to be white, second to get a conviction and end up in prison. That doesn’t really narrow it down, but…

I think you are thinking of the Aryan Brotherhood. They are the prison gang. The KKK doesn’t really get along with Neo Nazis because the Nazis were German and the Klan hates non Americans, even white ones. Yeah, it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but that’s racist "logic" for you.

Also the Klan hates Catholics, which most members of the AB are.

"terminate your case" is something I never thought about much before, but now it kinda sticks out to me. What type of a person would be in a position to terminate a case? Lots of possibilities. It seems like this Imperial Wizard person may be a person of power in some way. Is the Imperial Wizard the one who placed the personal ad, or did someone with the initials R.A. place the ad for him? And why place a personal ad in the first place? That might be the biggest mystery when you think about it. Why not just contact Zodiac by phone or in person? Was this ad meant to be seen? If so, why and who was meant to see it? Zodiac himself? Did Zodiac stray from the puppet master that was running him? Too many damn questions about this ad and no answers.

Maybe R.A. is a cop or lawyer. I have always thought that there was someone in a position of power who maybe provided some sort of protection. Maybe this was calling Z out to threaten to take away that protection?

I agree. What if Zodiac kinda disappeared and this was an attempt to reach him? Maybe his "friends" had not heard from him in some time because he had health issues and was living in an assisted living home. Someone like that would probably not be wanting to get too many personal phone calls or visitors, ya know.

I’m guessing no, but does anyone have specifics about Manalli’s accident? A police report or anything? The part that says "you’re next" seems like a threat, so I am wondering if Manalli’s accident was actually an accident or maybe made to look like such. It’s weird though that "you’re next" is followed with "the Imperial Wizard can save you." If we dissect this whole thing, that is maybe the weirdest part of the whole ad. You’re next, but you can be saved? And I wonder what the word "surrender" means in this case.
