Sandy and Soze??

Can we start over just on the particular topic of:

How is Gerald Taggert related to the Lillienthal’s and the Hass family? And Sandy, was this connection only made because of the whole Felclin connection of whom was actually at a different address.

I’d like a recap this because of have a couple of other researchers (both aspiring amateur geologists) who have been digging up all kinds of random stuff.

I will need to find that notebook to see how the connection was made. I don’t think the Tagerts were related to the Haas family, other than they liked baseball and their son was very involved in baseball. The idea that one of the Haas family members(Peter) lived at 313 Maple, which is the street that Zodiac was headed towards. Walter Haas was the president of the A’s at one time. Walter Haas had a school of business course at UC Berkeley. ( One of my RH suspects worked at UCB in 69/70.) Perhaps Zodiac gave the A’s tickets to play a game of his own and point the finger at the Haas family? He somehow knew that Peter lived on Maple and wanted him to be investigated? Haas and Lillienthal were connected. It’s all a lot of guessing with some obvious connection to the Oakland A’s. Zodiac may have worked at Mare Island and was a co worker of Gerald Taggert ?

Of interest. I was going through the 69/70 directory on another subject and found that a John Lillienthal lived caddy-corner to the Stine scene at 3903 Washington Street. Highly curious if the Robbins kids ever saw Zodiac look in that direction. Also wondering if I had noti.ced this before and forgot, lol.

Hummm, caddy-corner from the crime scene is where a witness heard the gun shot. From what I was told, he was an influential man and didn’t want to get involved in the case. I have not looked up the name of the man who owned that home. ( I will add that to my list of things to check) Thanks Tommy T, for the interesting info.

There is possibly something significant about the Taggerts, they had only just moved to the Roleen Drive house. Previously in 69 they Lived at 450 Gonzaga which was a small suburban street. Just 5 doors down from this at 420 Gonzaga is the address where Bernard A Pfister lived, the Fiance of Leona Larell Roberts.

Gragle, I thought her boyfriend who lived in Rodeo was Victor Vaio?

Barnard A Pfister lived in Vallejo all of his life, he had a son Brian Todd Pfister born in Feb 16 1971, from what I could find about the Pfister family was very strange, they all died in 2015?

No Greg Vaio who was a barber and lived in Rodeo was just a friend, she was helping him to settle in his new home. Bernard Pfister was definitely her fiancé at the time But he was away on duty with the army.

Ok thanks, Fake news in the paper, said Greg Victor Vaio was her boyfriend.

He was a barber in Napa his parents lived in Crocket. Extremely handsome guy, I saw his picture!

Her fiance got over her real fast, he had a son born 13 months after she was killed! He mourned for about three months. I mourned longer than that for my cat!

In the un-redacted BRS reports, for 6/19/70, there is mention of a Couple at 1423 Roleen Dr receiving a letter, and 2 Oakland A’s tickets. The letter read ‘gift from Zodiac’. The tickets were for the 6/20/70 Game. The letter had been postmarked 6/18/70 from Vallejo(A Thursday). The Officer tagged it into evidence, and requested that the Couple contact an investigator. I don’t see any outcome, but I seem to recall a mention of this incident in the most recent FBI pages released under the Freedom of info act,but I can’t find it. Anybody remember this? The Officer noted some similarity to Zodiac’s writing in the report.

A couple things worth noting:

*If this is a real Z letter, it’s postmarked on a Thursday in Vallejo, out of the norm for Zodiac.

*The Street, ROLEEN DR, was the street that Darlene’s Friend lived many years on(at 521, although I am not sure they lived there at the time of this letter)

*The couple could not think of anybody who would play a joke on them, or have any reason to mail them tickets.

*The male who received the letter, worked at Mare Island Shipyard, as an Electrician.

Assuming for a second this could be a real Z letter, I would doubt that Z would randomly pick this couple out. Perhaps he was a Friend, co-worker, neighbor, etc? Maybe Z would get a kick out of seeing the police question his Neighbor, or if he was a co-worker, maybe he would get his jollies hearing his co-worker tell his story of getting the tickets. It may be worth exploring.

So, does anybody remember if there were details of this in the latest FBI release, and does that street sound familiar to anbody as far as Zodiac goes??? By the way, I know the name of the couple that received the letter

Coming back to this topic for a second. 1970 is when these tickets came. In 1970, the family is listed as living there. But in 1969 in the directory, there home is not listed in the street by street directory(although according to Zillow, the home was built in 1965) In fact, the people that received the tickets lived on Gonzaga in Vallejo in 1969, so they were pretty new when they got those tickets in 1970. Not sure what that means

Looking closer at neighbors on Roleen; The Ashbaughs.

Father Elmer ‘Bud’ A. Ashbaugh born 1927
His Wife, Rosalie.
Their son, Elmer ‘Bud’ A. Ashbaugh Jr born 1950

They lived in San Diego 1960-1966 or so(so they were there for the Swindle murders, and not far from the possible Z taxi murder of Ray Davis in Oceanside.
No reason to suspect this father and son other than they were very close to a possible 64 Z murder, and very close to someone who got a possible Z letter.

The dad died in 1976 at age 50. The dad was definitely in the service and the son may have been.

The Dad left his wife Rosalie, married another woman in 1964 in San Diego, then re-married Rosalie circa 1967

Also interesting they first show up in Solano county the month of the first murder on LHR

One more item of interest; the Ashbaughs bought their home from Paul Bentley who was a real estate guy. In 1969, Paul Bentley’s office was at 721 Tuolumne in Vallejo, 200 feet from where Z called after his BRS attack

So what are you saying? This is the big news coming out today? One of the Ashbaugh’s was Zodiac? OR the pending big news got you interested in the Zodiac case to actively research it again?
