I want to start a new thread here, with the intent to eliminate anything which cannot be confirmed as a Zodiac incident, with the hope of
revealing a more clear idea of the actual killer. Please do not add scenarios which are not on the following list, we can do that in another
thread, as much as I believe in other crimes. Let us eliminate, and distill. Does anyone have issues with the following list of confirmed
Zodiac killings? If so please opine.

CRIMES :
Lake Herman Road
Blue Rock Springs
Lake Berryessa
Presidio Heights

No issues with the list. I’m quite sold that one man committed all these crimes.

Excellent, now we can gain a lot of information from these four crimes, the subsequent letters, and eyewitness descriptions.
What we have now is a white male adult, who committed these crimes in the San Francisco Bay Area within an hour’s driving of
each other, in Northern California. Between Dec of 1968 and Oct 1969. This man is a ruthless killer, who likely lives in Northern
California, retreating home after each kill. It is possible that he comes in from another area to kill, but why then all of them in
this small area of California, and not spread out into some other random area. At least during these months he is a Bay Area kind of guy.
Look at a map of the murder scenes, look at all the hi-ways that link them all together, with many various escape Routes. Look to the
location of the phone calls, and the location of the mailing of the letters. Does he live with someone else, who would be aware of his comings
and goings, who would be aware of the Zodiac on the news, someone who still might remember something?

I definitely agree :!: All of these crimes you listed, were the result of one single perp, a perp who called himself Z. I don’t buy any type of conspiracy, or Zodiac ‘team’, or somebody coming in on weekends from out of town to kill.

I think he was familiar with the area, and using a car at at least 3 of the 4 crime scenes, likely knew the area, and probably lived there in the area. Dr. Kim Rossmo ( a Guy)has that software which looks at crime data and points out based on the case information, where a perp is likely to live. According to his research, he came up with Rancho Vallejo section of Vallejo, which makes sense to me.

I seem to remember Dr. Rossmo highlighting three possible areas on the map where Zodiac may have lived. Maybe the video is still online somwhere. It’s also been pointed out that geoprofiling is not very effective when the killer lacks a fixed address — an example being the DC snipers.

Zodiac had a car, presumably had to make his hood, write his letters and prepare his weapons somewhere, and made repeated references to his ‘basement’. He definitely had digs someplace.

If only we had access to details of everyone living in the Rancho Vallejo area. I’m sure we would be able to narrow our search down to a few promising individuals. Morf, I know there’s at least one person there who’s piqued your interest, but I’m curious if there was anybody else.

Not a bad idea. We could go thru the police reports and take each suspect’s or person of interest’s home address, and plot them on a map, google earth or something similar? My main suspect lived on the 1700 block of Mini Dr which is right in that development. One of my other favorite suspects, used an address on the 2900 block of Webb st, I am not sure if that is in the Rancho Vallejo section of Vallejo or not

IMO I do see a good possibility of dos zodiacs the 2 pictures seem like two different men maybe even related or long time friends I think . If one of them killed Cheri Bates, or farraday/Jensen and the other new about it , he may have joined in the killings to take the worry off that he might be killed to silence him which would not matter if he killed also. Why use 2 different 9mm guns, different cars, if your wanting people to know it was you in the first place . To me it is likely the BRS and Napa were done by the same man and 12/20 /68 and 10/11/69 the other and ? K johns

In a way I think that both asks and answers the question, from my thinking anyway. He did want everyone to know it was him but he didn’t want anyone to know who him was.

I think he was using any and every technique he could think of to play with and confound LE. Possibly things he’s borrowed and or adapted from detective and crime magazines, other real crimes, movies etc. So in that respect using different weapons and vehicles is a bit of a no-brainer.

I think it’s possible that Zodiac lived in Vallejo, but I am also wondering about the logistics of going back and forth to San Francisco to mail the letters. One of my relatives (grew up in Vallejo and lives outside SF) estimated a 2.5 to 3 hour roundtrip.

The distance from Vallejo to San Francisco is 32 miles. I just did a Google map and right now will take 37 minutes one way. In heavy traffic at rush hour it’s going to take longer, of course. Could be that Zodiac worked in San Francisco or his work took him to San Francisco so he would not be going out of his way to mail letters no matter how heavy the traffic.

My Dad drove from Vallejo to SF every day for work! It was no big deal back then.
Hmmm ;)

I think seagull is right. Z likely lived in Vallejo and worked in SF. Working on weekdays and mailing letters from SF, and then attacking on weekends close to home in the Vallejo area. Fits perfectly.

If this is correct, we are looking for a white male fitting a certain description, age between 20 & 45, living in Vallejo & working in SFm and possibly being from Riverside area….maybe even having initials RH. That would really rule out alot of people ‘if’ all of this is accurate.
