I’m not a fan of the media. It’s not about actually getting the truth out to the masses anymore it’s about how much money they can make. That’s what offends me. The fact that these news outlets blatantly lie and are biased in many ways makes me sick. Really need a news outlet that is just about the facts and has zero corporate interest. Just look at the way they treat the Zodiac case, they rarely bother checking the facts, they are always promoting the myths about the murders. They don’t even bother to question weather the person who is coming to them with information on the case isn’t some kook who wants attention and money anymore. It’s really disheartening.

It’s usually a representation of how loud the proponent of a POI yells and how effectively they are able to gain the attention of the media. If you have a book to publish, a lawyer or handwriting expert to support your cause or an interesting backstory (like discovering your long lost biological father is Zodiac), that makes good headline news. To gain media attention, you have to state your 100% conviction that your theory is correct and ignore exculpatory evidence. Unfortunately, it’s the same qualities that make for lousy investigators and lousy posters here.

I don’t find it offensive. A little sad maybe because the media has become more about selling the news than conveying information but I don’t expect the media to distinguish the relative merits of a Zodiac POI.

I am offended at how easily the press is manipulated by people, and run with the story, without even checking facts,etc
