I just got my weekly movie guide email from DirecTV and Awakening the Zodiac is playing.
For free? Lucky you! I paid $12.99….watch it end up on Hulu. lol
Nah, not for free. It’s a pay per view. Price from $7.99 to $10.99. Not sure why the range, it’s not as if there is better seating for the more expensive one!
I haven’t watched it yet, it will be on all week at least.
I watched it today, for $9. Not bad but as I suspected not a lot of facts. Seems based a lot on the tip that Rick Marshall was Z and put his kills on film, and the best parts were in the trailer. Another way to use the Zodiac story for publicity but then again at least it brings the case to a new audience. How long till some newbies come here thinking things they saw in the movie were real?
There is more than one way to lose your life to a killer

I watched it for free on the Amazon Firestick.
I had low expectations for this movie but it really wasn’t all that bad. A little disappointed with the performance by the guy who played Zodiac though. He wasn’t a very good actor. The concept of the movie is what I liked the most. The storyline was kind of cool. The acting was so-so. Overall I think it was better than expected but still not great. I would recommend it though.
A few minutes ago on a toilet not very far, far away….
Was it better than The Zodiac 2005?
Was it better than The Zodiac 2005?
I think so, yeah, but that’s not saying much.
I watched this movie again and didn’t like it as much this time. The acting is awful, especially the guy that plays Zodiac. The guy that played Harvey was the only good one I thought. I don’t want to post any spoilers so I will leave it at that.

I actually really liked that (2005) Zodiac movie…almost better than Fincher’s. Except for the names of victim’s, etc., I thought it was more of what was to be expected in a Zodiac movie. Fincher’s was all about Graysmith and his hunt.
That said, this movie (imo) was not better than that (2005) movie. It’s just a different spin. Kind of like a fun fantasy we all might have finding his things…and where it might lead you. I never took it seriously.
And ophion….DOES that guy play Zodiac?
The worst one is Curse of the Zodiac. That movie was just flat out bad. I will have to watch the 2005 movie again, haven’t seen it in a long time.

I liked Graysmith’s movie but I agree it kinda sucked they just focused on Allen. The acting, directing and everything else was top notch.

Agreed, and…it was nice to see big-name actors too.
Just watched this flick on DVD. It was about as bad as I expected. In the "making of" documentary on the disc, the director talks about all the research he put into writing the script. I’m not sure what he was researching but it certainly didn’t help the accuracy of the production. The cinematography was actually pretty good — nice lightning and some moody scenes — but the acting and writing were excruciatingly bad and not in the fun way like "The Room" or "Plan 9 From Outer Space." I did like how the film delved into the rumor that Zodiac filmed his killings and the stuff with the cipher was okay. They also did a decent job recreating the executioner-style hood from the Berryessa stabbing. In the end, the film could have been an effective thriller or even a fun campy slasher movie but it fails to deliver in both areas. One interesting note is that in the first scene, the killer gets stabbed in the ankle by one of the victims. Is this a possible reference to the oft-disputed "limp" or "shuffling lope" from the Stine shooting? Worth watching for Zodiac pop culture completionists but wait until it’s streaming on Netflix or something.
Your dad is not the Zodiac.
Yep. You can watch it right now on Amazon Prime. Kindle…PS4…Roku…etc.
I have already downloaded it and will be watching it tonight!
Really? I have amazonfire television and I am also an amazon prime member, so does this mean I can just search for it, and watch it, through my videos on Amazon?
It doesn’t sound like it is going to be all that great, but who knows, I actually liked the fincher film.

On amazon there are a few zodiac films, I started "san franpsycho" but stopped after a few minutes, I think I may have started one of the others…
Any way, it has been a while since I have watched zodiac films on amazon, maybe a review is in order.

Wasn’t San Franpsycho about a Zodiac copycat? I can’t even remember if I watched the movie or not.
