Another "odd date" by Graysmith: In Zodiac Unmasked, pg.464, under "Newspapers and Periodicals," one source listed is "Zodiac" by Walter Blum. For some reason it reads November 1968. Either it’s a misprint or maybe W. Blum wrote something that pertained to murder free astrology.

I got excited because I remembered that one of my suspects, the classmate of Cheri Jo, that lived in Vallejo until 74, was born in May, and I thought it was the 8th, but I was off by a few days…damn. Still, something to consider, in the ‘MY NAME IS’ cipher, the circled 8’s may be Taurus symbols, and people born in May are Taurus. Some have theorized that Z was a Taurus

Besides the bus bomb letter and his death machine has there been any other bomb threats during this time that may be connected to the Zodiac?

People may say what like about Robert Graysmith, you simply have to acknowledge that he does have one extremely unique ability that deserves recognition and that is his remarkable ability to go live on a news broadcast and make up a series of blatant lies and fabrications regarding Allen and Zodiac, and then present them as known certified facts and do so while keeping a straight face! Now that is some achievement in my opinion, bravo Bob, that must have taken some effort.

I watch the interview and realised instantly why the Editor of the Chronicle would only allow Bobby to draw pictures/cartoons, he couldn’t be trusted to write any words because he may just make sh*it up and the Chronicle would one day inform readers "The Queen of England is set to direct the big budget remake of Debbie Does Dallas and will make a cameo appearance as the neighbour of the house of Swingers."

Arthur Allen knew ALL the victims, and stalked every one of them, and is the only one of the two thousand-five-hundred persons of interest that had the ability to create the ciphers. This is all factual according to Robert. Obviously the entire Law Enforcement division and agencies in Cali were a bit dim. Just re-visitng this topic. May 8, was listening to the Graysmith Book today, and he claims that on May 8,1970, in Santa Rosa, there was the bomb threat in which the caller identified himself as Zodiac, and that exactly one year earlier on the same date, a bomb threat was called into Santa Rosa, and that the caller also identified himself as Zodiac. One of two things, Graysmith is wrong about this, or the caller in May 1969 DID call himself Zodiac. The issue-there was no Zodiac killer,at least on paper or in the press, in May 1969. This may be worth checking into

That is a good one, imo..it shows us the connection we had speculated earlier about that Z might have left the Valleja area towards Santa Rosa..

Hi there, I found a Santa Rosa bomb threat that hasn’t been mentioned in this context. If Graysmith had his dates wrong perhaps October 20 or 21, 1969 this is the first bomb threat he was referencing. In an Avery article on Oct 21 1969 discussing security measures taken at schools they mention a school bus bomb threat that was called in to Santa Rosa police by someone hinting that they were Zodiac and in response they were checking buses for bombs. One reason I found it interesting is that the Zodiac hadn’t written about bombs yet.

I have been under the impression that the first threat on school children was not publicly revealed until October 20, 1969 when Lee read the letter at a televised news conference, but I must be mistaken about that because three days earlier, on October 17 a Santa Rosa school bus driver went on the news describing what she believed was a shot fired at her bus. I just noticed that Keith Powers wrote of the threat on school children on Oct 17 in the Chronicle, the same day as the Santa Rosa bus driver’s report.

Don’t forget, two Zodiac POI’s did have ties to Santa Rosa, Arthur Leigh Allen & Fred Manalli

There was a call to end all bombing. Probably nothing. Just interesting that the person making the call chose that day.

As we know, Z was a stickler for exact dates when contacting individuals or newspapers re one of his murders. That is, he’d make contact exactly, say, six months after a murder.

Nice catch Soze! Is it certain that Oct 17th was first published report about the school bus portion of Zodiac’s letter? If so this does suggest that someone in Santa Rosa was in the know.

Not so sure I’d put too much into Zodiac calling a Kmart, but hey…you never know.
