Ok, this is about theories so here is mine:

Let’s assume that Z was responsible for CJB’s murder. Also that the Z in the Bates had to die letters was his, representing Z for Zodiac. Let’s assume further that it was only later that he left LA area to San Francisco/Vallejo, but originally lived in Riverside, went to Ramona High etc.

Those assumptions still allow the question, where Zodic actually got his name from. So let’s have a look for Zodiac @ Riverside. Indeed, there is a Zodiac Drive in Riverside. So the theory is, that Z got his name from the street where he actually had lived. This again could lead to his identity, an identity that might later be proven by eg. the my-name-is-cipher, the persons presence in Vallejo, his sketch and handwriting etc.

Therefore – who lived at Zodiac Drive in Riverside is the question I’d like to come up with.

I wonder if the road even existed back in 1966. Based on Ed’s view it sounds like it may be newer. I looked at the home on google maps and I agree that some look newer. I am going to look for an old map of Riverside and see if the road even existed back then.

Sorry, but it does not look like the street was around back in the 60s. I could not find a map from back then so I looked on a Real estate website and the homes were all built between 1977-1985.

Maybe Zodiac became a land developer.

Maybe he and his family lived on that street when he was a kid. I doubt he lived there at the time of the murders and then gave that as a clue.

The road did not exist when Z was a kid. The houses were not built until the late 70s into the 80s.

When I was a kid in the late sixties all the news papers had a zodiac horoscope post , some papers 3 or 4 and most young adults at least looked it over daily as the articles were near the funnys .
because so many people read it daily and some were of a dark & serious nature ,could be reason for the killer to use the name

QT You asked this in another Topic.This may not be the right place to bring it up but I am also curious if this was looked into. If I were a detective it would have been one of the things I would research-just to rule it out.

I’m pretty sure that Zodiac Dr was NOT there in 1969 or before

Speaking of intriguing street names…. My POI, from Riverside, moved to San Jose ca. 1969-70, and lived for a time on Morrill Avenue. Those familiar with the Bates case will raise a brow, and rightly so. Morf said he had no record of my POI having lived on Morrill; however, back in ’91 when I was doing my gumshoeing, I contacted a librarian at San Jose’s library and she replied that my POI lived on Morrill. She also scolded me for taking up her valuable time!

I know Zodiac Dr isn’t in SF, but still, am I the only one to find it a bit weird that there was a street that was plotted AFTER the crime spree named Zodiac Dr? I doubt NYC plotted in Berkowitz Ave in the aftermath of Son of Sam

I’d love to know either who plotted it on the map and/or who approved it, we all know Z loved his maps, wouldn’t this be a crowning glory?!

Not really because the whole neighborhood are streets named after Zodiac signs. I doubt they even thought about it. There’s a street name near me that is Killdee. It’s an alternative for killdeer which is a bird. But it’s still weird if you have Zodiac on your mind, but it has nothing to do with the case.
