JASON is an independent group of scientists which advises the United States government on matters of science and technology. The group was first created as a way to get a younger generation of scientists—that is, not the older Los Alamos and MIT Radiation Laboratory alumni—involved in advising the government. It was established in 1960 and has somewhere between 30 and 60 members.

Jason was also the killer in the "Friday The 13th" movies, LOL.
And in that sideways image above, what happened to July? That is still one of the 12 months, isn’t it?

(P.S. – Why is this posted in the "Tech Questions" part of the board?)

Zodiac never used july why should i…

Most interesting!

There is something somewhere (sorry I can’t remember and don’t think it is on this site) where something thought to have been sent by Z said "four can be five or six" and there was something about Superfudge also.

At the time I came across this, I Google searched and found Superfudge was a children’s book but also had something to do with nuclear energy.

Think especially the phone number theory of the Arlington mortuary is really interesting..it’s directly at Magnolia Avenue. There also is a St. PAUL Lutheran Church at Magnolia Avenue, btw.

Sorry to drag up this old one again, but i have just read that the autopsy of Cheri Jo bates was performed at Acheson and Graham. So maybe it was Arlington Mortuary that performed the funeral service. If this is the case then the numbers 6891011 which is the phone number for Arlington Mortuary may come back into play. Does anyone know which company performed the Funeral service for Cheri Jo Bates?

Here’s a scan of Cheri’s death certificate. Under "FUNERAL DIRECTOR AND LOCAL REGISTRAR," it reads, "ACHESON & GRAHAM ARLINGTON."

Still, I think you’ve nailed it — it certainly makes more sense to me than Dave Peterson’s convoluted "astrological wheel" theory. No elaborate de-scrambling process needed, it’s just…there. Wow.

Yo Coffee Time, i have seen that doco, interesting the Acheson and Graham ARLINGTON. I have seen another doco of the external autopsy report that says the AUTOPSY was performed at Acheson and Graham. I think that’s a bit strange, I would have thought that it would have been performed at the Coronors office. So my real question is just because Acheson and Graham performed the autopsy does that mean they performed the funeral service or could the body have been handed over to Arlington mortuary for the funeral service. Not sure how the system would have operated in CA and in the 60s. Maybe Z had a part time job in these funeral homes as a helper or Pallbearer? that would suit him. 6891011 actually an easy ph number to remember.

I assume the Press Enterprise (the paper the killer wrote to) would’ve printed the funeral details, but Newspapers.com doesn’t carry the Enterprise. The Enterprise has an online archive, but it only goes back to the 1990s.

Now: that photo of the coffin being carried out, doesn’t remotely match the pictures I’ve seen of the Acheson & Graham building (perhaps it was remodeled at some point). I can’t find many photos of Arlington Mortuary; however, in this one (from Yelp), you can see that it does have windows with rounded tops, like the ones in the funeral pic. The entrance also looks similar. Maybe someone can dig up more/clearer photos.

Here’s a pic of Arlington from further away. Apart from the rounded tops, the windows are different from the funeral pic, but many old buildings have removed & replaced windows over the years to conserve energy. It does have the same type of concrete "stairway" steps as seen in the CJB pic.

The Acheson building…square windows, no steps:

I believe the funeral service was held at st Catherine’s of Alexandra ..which is on Arlington. "Miss Bates was a freshman at Riverside City College. She had been a cheerleader at Ramona High School. A rosary will be recited at 8 tonight, at the Arlington Acheson and Graham Chapel. High Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. Catherine’s Church, Riverside" Wednesday November 2 1966 The San Bernardino County Sun

OK, I finally found that article by searching "Acheson," seems I’m slow today. I’m not Catholic, so I had to Google everything.
http://www.usccb.org/prayer-and-worship … -rites.cfm

According to that site, the "Mass" or "Funeral Liturgy" is when family and friends gather at church to celebrate "Christ’s victory over sin and death" when a loved one passes — a separate event from the funeral.

What confuses me is why the location in the CJB funeral photo looks nothing like Acheson, yet Acheson is what’s listed on the death cert. Why would two different locations be involved? Was Acheson rebuilt at some point? Was the cert just wrong…?

(Oh yes — now that I’ve gone away for a bit and come back, it looks to me as though the windows in the CJB funeral picture are the windows on the doors, with a pillar on one side…the entrance to Arlington has pillars and concrete steps. How can that not be Arlington Mortuary? I wish we had the original photo and not a fuzzy scan from a newspaper.)

Coffee Time the funeral service was at St Catherines. More than likely it was Acheson And Graham who performed it..still i get a feeling the 6891011 number is a clue.
