Frank Bolle is still living as near as I can tell. His wiki page doesn’t have a death date for him. He has a website but I don’t think it’s been updated for quite a while.

For what it is worth, I sent an email to Frank Bolle a few days ago using the email address on his website.
There was also a phone number, but it was not in service. My online searches turned up another phone number for him at a different location, but again the number was out of service.
There has been no response to the email as yet.
It appears he has relatives in the area, possibly they could be reached.

If Frank Bolle is still in reasonable health, and if he has the inclination, it might be worthwhile to invite him for a guest chat.

Random thoughts:
What are the odds that Graysmith and Bolle might have been acquainted?
They were both cartoonists, though each specializing in a different genre.
Do cartoonists have professional associations?
What are the odds that there would be more than one cartoonist linked to any given real-life serial killer murder mystery?

Great GG! I’m glad you are trying to contact Frank Bolle. I hope he responds, it would be great to have him in a chat or possibly just give a statement about that issue of the Tim Holt comic book.
There are associations for cartoonists though I wonder if political cartoonists like Graysmith would think that comic book cartoonists are beneath them or something like that?????

I too tried contacting him not long after finding this comic. No reply.

Since the website is still up, It is possible that he still occasionally checks his email from time to time.
From an interview on his website, it sounds like he was quite active just a few years ago. He was looking for more work at the time. Since the phone is out of service, I am guessing that he is winding the business down. We can only hope that his health is holding out.
If it is, he still may be checking his messages occasionally.
That said, We could consider other avenues to reach him. I just found this link which features his wife:

It may be possible to reach him through her.

It looks to me like good news.
It appears that Mr. Bolle is alive and well and still illustrating the comic strip "Apartment 3-5":

Not sure if this link will always point to the same strip, but I just saw the strip with today’s date and Frank Bolle’s name (along with Margaret Shulock) close by.

I forget, did you mention that the cattle symbol used at the Colorado Ranch was also in the same comic book someplace?
I really think that you found a big clue Tahoe. The fact that symbol zodiac sent in the Halloween card is very close to a symbol used by the same rancher that was associated with that comic book and the wheel of doom, could be a clue of some sort, maybe a connection to that ranch??There was an ad for the Red Ryder gun in the back of the Tim Holt comic…not the cattle brand.
Maybe he read the comic and bought the gun!
Wow, that Red Ryder Bb gun brings back memories of my youth,I loved that gun,and got to be a pretty good shot too.

Just found out it’s publication was December of 1970, but "Zodiac" could have been around before this. I’ll keep looking…
