That writing is very much like the Ramsey 3 page note, with the umbrella a’s.

I attempted to get the writer’s name from the FBI using the FOIA, and I suspected, the writer may have been Ross Sullivan, who was also from Syracuse as the letter writer was, but they denied my request. They said I had so many months from the date the letter was released to me, to appeal for more info, and I can no longer appeal for the info. They may not have released it anyhow, but I think it was a a wasted chance to get info :(

Couldn’t someone else just do the same FOIA request and appeal quicker? It’s not as if your denied request means that the information is now forever lost, right?

Nobody chiming in yet, I noticed these things similar to Z:

Candy cane letter f

Lower case J like Z(and Bates Desktop poem)

The writer connects the ‘TH’ in the word THIS, just like Z

The writer’s #2 looks like a Z, and where he wrote ‘room1020’, he actually wrote it as ‘room10Z0’

Lower case Y seems to be rather long pointing down like Z

Also, double postage on the envelope(although, it looks like BOTH a postcard & envelope, like 2 separate mailings)

I wonder if the author signed this letter with his real name, and if so,I would have to assume that polic ruled him out as Z.

I was just reading an article about a draft dodger from the 60s and it said "he was UNWILLING TO DIE for his country." Found that a bit interesting.

A few minutes ago on a toilet not very far, far away….

Yeah that got me thinking. A lot of people believe that Z was a military man, but what if he was a draft dodger and he was against the war or against the government or something along those lines. Maybe there is a tie between the desktop poem and the draft board letter. I really wish we could find out the name on the letter.

Revisiting this thread. For various reasons, I am interested in this as a possible Z letter. Somehow, some way, this letter was authored in 68, yet added to the Z investigation a couple years later. It’s obvious Law enforcement knew who wrote this, and you would certainly think, they had to be checked out and ruled out as Z.

I got this letter before we ever found out about Ross Sullivan, and the fact he was from Syracuse, but the fact he was from there makes it more interesting to me. I followed up with a FOIA request for this letter to see if Ross Sullivan authored it, and they denied my request. Also, the letter mentions ‘The Marin Hills’. Z suspect, Fred Manalli uses the same phrase in a letter. Curious what people’s opinions are of this letter 18 months after we got to see it for the 1st time.

Wouldn’t this person by necessity be someone whose permanent address at the time was in the state of NY? If he actually resided, formally, in California, he wouldn’t have been drafted by a board in NY. Or so I think, at least.

He sent it from Berkeley. So, a guy whose address is in NY somewhere, and who has gone to Berkeley to study – or to be part of the hippie scene there. Writes this letter to convince the board that he’s nuts, an acid head, etc. Or perhaps he actually IS nuts, an acid head, etc.

As for Marin hills, it’s interesting that both Manalli and this guy mention them – but they’re pretty famous, many people know about the Marin hills.

I think that where you register at, is who would mail you your papers. If you registered with selective svc in NY, then moved to CA, then the NY office would contact you,but it’s been a long time since I registered. By the way Deb, do you remember where Manalli entered into the service?
