Was Allen the inspiration for the ‘Zodiac’ persona?

Been considering this. I don’t think ALA was Zodiac, but, if it is true at all that he told a small group of people that he would kill people, call himself zodiac, and then write letters to the police, and he was not Zodiac, then one of those people he told that to would most certainly have to be zodiac.

SO I thought about it. Who knew these details allegedly from ALA?

Don Cheney, Ted Kidder, and Phil Tucker. Some of these guys have been discussed before. Any thoughts on any of them? I know that Cheney mentioned something weird, which was that if his DNA turned up on any stamps, it would be because ALA asked him to lick his stamps, anybody else remember that?

Any pics of these guys (besides Cheney)

Taking these guys one at a time:

TED KIDDER:

"NAPA – Ted Kidder, of Napa, passed away April 12, 2009, at the age of 88. Born in Anacortes, Wash., he was raised primarily in Vallejo, Calif., attending school at St. Vincent’s High School and graduating from Vallejo High School. Ted was a World War II Veteran, serving in the USN at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in the early 1940s. During his lifetime, he was employed as a police officer and narcotics agent, retiring as the director of Greater Vallejo Recreation District for Solano County in the 1970s. He was placed into “Who’s Who” in the Western United States by Ronald Reagan during his term as Governor of California.
He had a great love of animals, especially family pets and horses.
Ted was born to William M. Kidder and Francis Kidder of Anacortes, Wash., on Nov. 14, 1920, the youngest of 10 children.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce “Margo,” of Napa; sons William M. Kidder, of Napa, and Warren H. Kidder (Betty), of Westwood; daughters Jimmie Leigh Sprague of Corning, Stephanie Hultberg of Pennsylvania, and Kristan Kidder-Calkins (Tracy), of Napa; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At his request, there will be no services
"

Seeing how Kidder was born circa 1920 (too old to be Zodiac),loved animals(likely wouldnt be a hunter),and had been a police officer as well, seems hard to think he could be involved.

I think ALA is involved in the case, I see many theories, often complicated, I believe he was not the head of the group, but at least for me, was part of this craziness. Imagine 3 or 4 talking crazy "hey let’s do something different??! Instead of hunting animals people hunt?!." Hey let’s praise satan ", whatever, this is a strange world, I am sorry for the victims, honestly, but in a world where people’s lives are worth less than the money, in a sick society, I do not think it strange that these things happen.
sorry if I turned my focus.
Yes I think ALA was elected by the "group" a "persona"
Does anyone understand me?? !!
I’m ashamed to make placements with translator.
It should be like an idiot to you
sorry!

I was just talking about these guys, so I’ll just copy that post.

But first off let me add that the only reason he was ever a suspect was because of that story. If he hadn’t told he was the killer, no one would ever know. Some lucky break, huh? and if someone told you that they were going to kill people and call himself Zodiac and then someone started killing people and calling himself Zodiac would you wait a few YEARS to tell police about it? Right after you found out the guy hanging around your daughter was a pervert. Coincidence right?

I believe that it was his Zodiac watch that made everyone he pissed off claim that he was the killer. Even I’ll admit that is the strongest thing linking him to the killer in the sense that anyone who saw it would think of the Zodiac killer… yet none of the people questioned about him, who reported him as being suspicious, said anything about the watch. Does that strike you as an odd omission?

Now that I think about it maybe he really did tell them he was the Zodiac… sort of. Perhaps him and his buddies were all sitting around and they saw the headline about the Zodiac. One of them says, "Hey Art, don’t you have a watch like that?" He probably got a big kick out of that. He says, "yeah. And my favorite book is The Most Dangerous Game. I’m the Zodiac! haha." They all have a laugh and then later when they found out he was a pedo… well, he DID say he was the Zodiac, didn’t he?

I think everything rules ALA out as being Z, prints, writing,DNA,etc

That being said, ‘IF’ it really hapened that he mentioned he would call himself Zodiac, and mail letters to the police to mess with them, then it would almost certainly have to be somebody that knew about him saying that, either one of the guys he told that to, or maybe somebody else he told it to,etc.Problem is, how much of any of it is true?

Kidder, Tucker,Cheney, all remember an instance in which ALA talked about The Most Dangerous Game, or hunting people, etc, even if the exact details are hazy or unknown. Like I said, I don’t think ALA was Z, but if that story is true, there may be some fire along with the smoke

My first pet theory when delving into the Zodiac case was that Zodiac and Allen knew each other. Allen both idolised and was jealous of Zodiac, seeking to emulate him. So he started pretending he was the Zodiac killer, going around talking smack about hunting human beings with a penlight attached to a pistol barrel. Unfortunately, he got in over his head.

That could be NACH, but ALA allegedly told this story to these guys BEFORE the Zodiac’s first confirmed LHR attack.

I will double check, but if it was Jan 69, and ALA used the word ‘Zodiac’, that is still BEFORE Z ever called himelf Zodiac

I think I checked for photos when I created the Vallejo/Hogan High Students thread. Kidder attended Vallejo High in 1955. You might find something in the yearbooks.

Phil Tucker was (is?) involved with this organization. I’m searching for more photos: http://www.calhcn.org/

I think so as a distraction much like a cipher with apparently multiple solutions and hidden messages, letters, supposedly anonymous letters, body count/score, accepting blame for other crimes…did I leave anything out?
