Maybe it was Ross seagull. But didn’t the librarian in her letter say Ross went missing for a while ? And I am pretty sure the head of the library was a male. It’s In the 66 yearbook.
I wasn’t sure if there was a male librarian in 1966. I know there was one in 1964 and thought there was no 1966 yearbook. While Ross may not have been a librarian, per se, I was under the impression from Mrs. Bailey’s letter that he did work in the library.

Well, Ross did work in the Library although not technically a Librarian. There was a 1966 RCC yearbook, for the 65-66 School year, but there was not a 67 yearbook, which would have been for 66-67,which is when Cheri would have been in the yearbook

Interesting, could the "male librarian" have been Ross???
Unable to pinpoint the time? To play devil’s advocate I suppose the time change can make one less aware of time, however…
I wonder who checked Cheri’s books out for her? I would think whoever did check out her books would have immediately told detectives that they did so, giving detectives a better idea of the timeline. Her murder was a big deal on campus. So, considering what huge news the murder was I’m confused as to why Investigators didn’t hear from whoever checked her books out. Or at least I haven’t read where any librarian came forward saying they checked her books out.
I think the Cops knew she had been in the library Bc the books in her car were checked out for Oct 30 and Bc she left the note for her dad, but did they find out she was at the library from any employees?
I put myself back in the library when it was just cards – mostly analog. I remember as a kid needing to call on the librarian more for help with the old card system than I do now when using electronic searches for the books. Idk, it just seems to me that if she checked out 3 books at least one librarian would remember her wandering around or having helped her find a book/check out. That information would be quite vivid and I would think they would give it up immediately with detail. Especially if she checked out later in the evening around closing. I mean jeez if she was seen at the library around 6 or so as one witness claimed and if she stayed all the way up
To 10, that’s 4 hours of her hanging at a library up til closing (in assuming it closed at 10). Again, no librarians notice her there the whole time, but thinks they saw her and don’t remember what time it was? I understand students not noticing as they could be going in and out, but employees are there the whole time presumably (except for a lunch/dinner break etc).
^also, one must wonder if she submitted her library card when checking out the books and if the librarian made sure to register the 3 books to her library card/ID. I mean you can’t just check out books without giving your Library card – they need the card so they can track overdue/lost books. Somebody had to record that her library card was used when she checked out the books. Again, was record made by investigators of who took her library card and checked out her books?
Almost certainly the desktop poem was written between the beginning of Fall Semester, 1966 (September) and Winter Break, 1966 (December). During the summer, there are considerably fewer students than usual, and the janitors would have done a fairly thorough housekeeping. They did not find the desktop poem at that time. Winter Break (December) is only about two weeks long but, since there are virtually no students, janitors can do a pretty thorough job without being interrupted. This is the time, very probably, when the desktop poem was discovered.
Isn’t it entirely possible that the desk poem was written after Bates’ murder? Taking the DOJ report at face value, what if the killer returned to the RCC library long afterwards and wrote that poem…

The Poem was found Circa December,1966,so he could have only come back within a 2 month period if this was the case
