i still believe DF knew Z…i also believe those calls were made by Z (knowing the unlisted # is just damn scary)…one thing i have yet to agree with is any connection between DF and gaik…i dont think gaik was Z but even i must admit the albany connection is very interesting but no solid proof DF knew of gaik in albany or vice versa..as of now its just theory…but it is interesting and narlow making the connection does raise an eyebrow…

""]i still believe DF knew Z…i also believe those calls were made by Z (knowing the unlisted # is just damn scary)…"

Whether the number was listed or unlisted is really irrelevant. If the number was listed and you could say "Well, he obviously must have looked it up" then that’s still going to leave you with the question of "How did he know who to look up if Dee was some random victim he did not know?"

"So it’s sorta social. Demented and sad, but social, right?" Judd Nelson.

I always thought it was mentioned that "he" called the Ferrin’s home because they WERE listed.

The Suennen’s phone number was unlisted, but it was the Ferrins who received the phone calls…I had never heard the Suennens received calls. If true, THAT would make sense Leo was calling there. http://www.zodiackiller.com/DFR23.html

Dean also reported two calls where no one said anything, and THAT could also have been Leo. http://www.zodiackiller.com/DFR19.html

As far as I know, the calls that night were to Dean Ferrin at his home No. and Dean’s parents at their house. Why would Leo ring his sisters in-laws just to breath down the phone? Would Leo even know Dee’s husbands parents No?

"So it’s sorta social. Demented and sad, but social, right?" Judd Nelson.

The Ferrin menfolk did not like Leo very much. The moment Leo called the Ferrin home and one of them picked up, he might have gotten cold feet, said nothing and hung up rather than ask for his sister.

Fair enough if Dean picked up, said hello, then the phone went dead but that isn’t what he and his parents report. What possible reason would Leo have for staying on the line and breathing into the phone?

Dean, (see link above) only states their was "no answer on the other end".

Calling the house at 1am would be enough to get somebody mad whether they like you or not. If you are getting a phonecall at 1am,it better be an emergency. That’s why I don’t entirely believe the calls were made to score drugs, and why it’s possible it was Z calling. The issue is, that the Family has been less than reliable over the years

Wasn’t that one of the things we were trying to get to the bottom of in the other thread; exactly who it was that received the calls? And now I don’t remember it either. Doh.

That’s the most frustrating thing about this case, there is so much and unanswered questions that I often forget whether we found an answer or not.

In the PD reports, it was Darlene’s house and Dean’s parents home. That’s not to say the Suennens never got calls, it is just not mentioned in the reports we have seen.

That what I have always found odd. Let’s assume for a second that these calls were placed by Zodiac, wouldn’t it suggest that he knew Dean and Dean’s family more so that Darlene and the Suennens? It was Dean and Deans family that received that calls, not Dee and Dee’s family. Just a thought.

In my only opinion, Zodiac called Dean because Dean was the one messing around with Dee. I’m feeling like Z knew Dee and he was jealous…

I know this thread is over a year old however it should be noted that during this time it was extremely popular for people to purchase and listen to police band scanners. You could listen, in real time, to radio calls between police dispatch and responding officers in the field. Point being – anyone listening to the Vallejo police band that night would have been privy to all info passed between LE officers, in real time, as it happened.
