Regarding PETE, was there no final follow up as to whether he worked at Kaiser or not? I don’t recall any confirmation or follow up on this guy.

If so, there’s no mention in the reports

Do any of you guys have a pdf of the police reports? I haven’t read them in a while and would love to refresh my memory.

It’s really good to read over them. I may try and do it more often. I usually just read them from Tom’s site. http://www.zodiackiller.com/ZodiacPoliceReports.html

Thanks.

can someone clear up how they were able to do ballistics to determine whether certain guns (the hunters, etc) were a match when the dept of justice ballistics report indicated it would be impossible, if the gun were found, to determine whether it had fired the bullets?

http://www.zodiackillerfacts.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=74

from page 2: "due to lack of sufficient unique structure it appears that considerable difficulty will be encountered in positively identifying the responsible weapon if it should be recovered."…"from our examination it appears that a conclusive identification of the responsible weapon will be extremely difficult, if not impossible, even though it should be recovered."

In the report, regarding the relevant section, it seems they are referring to cartridge casings, not slugs. Comparison of casings is far less probative than comparison of slugs. Casings have ejector marks, slugs have lands and grooves. The former is less distinct and unique, in many cases, than the latter.

That’s my interpretation.

I’ve been working on a timeline for the LHR incident the last few days, so most of this is fresh on my mind. I’ll try to post my findings on the timeline (with accompanying map) by this weekend.

Sorry, BF.
I can’t find your posting of the LHR timeline you were working on.
Didi you ever get it uploaded here?

No, Morf did one around that time. I didn’t want to muck things up with duplicity.

I saw his one and whilst reasonably thorough, was more of a selected ‘person by person’ account based on the police reports. There seems to be a number of other people of interest placed in the area that night, not mentioned in the PR, and all of it not represented strictly chronologically.
