Hello everyone,
My name is Dr. Lee Mellor. I’m a criminologist and head of the behavioral committee for the American Investigative Society of Cold Cases. I also host the podcast ‘Murder Was the Case’, which is about 230 episodes and 50 bonus episodes deep. Murder Was the Case is running a series called ‘Under the Hood’ in which Zodiac researchers come forward to hang with me and present a case for their #1 suspect. Morf made his debut in episode 200 and it was well received.
For the first 40 minutes or so of each episode we compare the suspect to a profile of the Zodiac which I spent several years developing (my doctoral thesis focused on offenders who send communications). After that we can discuss anything about the suspect that didn’t come up, why you think he is the culprit, and generally converse.
If you are interested in appearing on the show, please contact me at murderwasthecasepodcast at gmail dot com, and introduce yourself 😉

Very cool I will check out the podcast for sure.
Alas, I have no suspect to offer. Matter of fact, I believe that none of the people who have been publicly accused are indeed the Zodiac criminal. None of the ‘evidence’ offered for them is more than hearsay, and they all have huge logical hurdles to explain away (minimally, being in the same part of the continent / State) to actually be viable suspect(s).Â
I think the evidence points to unsub still in 2021.
It is easy to see how amateur investigators get hot for pet suspects and put the blinders on: they are not pros who are familiar with the kind of “gold fever” an interesting ‘suspect’ can arouse. Amateurs are less able to realize that a person can look completely guilty, but be completely innocent still. Real evidence is required.
Dan, aka DB, Cooper might well be considered a viable Zodiac suspect because his ‘wanted’ sketch greatly resembles the Zodiac’s ‘wanted’ sketch. They also were alive simultaneously, active on the USA West Coast, participated in kidnapping, interacted with his victims and vanished. Zodiac wore wing-walkers and Dan Cooper knew a lot about airplanes. The Zynchronicity is stacking up.Â
Anyhoo – I will be listening!
That was too much!
Admins, can we double-dog dare an investigator to participate?
That was too much!
I’d go on, but I don’t have a suspect! ?Â

Aside, on your podcast covering the Lake Herman Road crimes (#169?, #172?), the narrator states that Zodiac reached through the driver side door to fire at David Farraday. Is this a certainty? How do we know Zodiac did not stand right next to David?
Great podcasts! Thanks!Â
That was too much!
I hope some people step up and do this. I started reading Lee’s dissertation, it’s some first-rate original research. Zodiacologists could learn a lot from it.Â

Great podcasts! Thanks!Â
David was shot outside of the car while standing to the left of the passenger door, on the left side of his head. He was not shot while seated inside of the car!Â
@sandy-betts The fact David was shot in the left ear means either two things to me. Zodiac was left handed or he stood in a weird position to the left of David so he could fire with his right hand.
@loom It is a well-known fact that Zodiac was right-handed, more than likely he stood to the left of David and Betty Lou to the right of David.Â
I agree Sandy how he was right handed, though I didn’t know it was fact and thought people still speculated over it!
I still wonder how David was positioned before he got shot. Was he up against the car like how a cop would arrest someone? If so, wouldn’t there be blood splattered on the car?
