Very Sad day for all who communicated with Dave. My prayers go out to his family and close friends and to all of us in the Z community. Dave you will be greatly missed. RIP my friend.

Sad news indeed, RIP Dave

Really, really sad. VDave was one of the first people I met in the Zodiac community some 10 years ago. He was always a super nice guy with a great sense of humor.

Yes, that is Vallejo Dave. He was stationed in Vallejo with the military (which I can only presume stimulated his interest in Zodiac) but lived in PA as long as I’ve known him.

It would be nice for his family if everyone signed his book on line. There’s so many good feelings about Vallejo Dave that it would be nice for his family to know. You can use your posting names if you don’t want to post your real name. I think everyone likes Vallejo Dave. I was lucky enough to discuss alot of the Z case with him & enjoyed his ideas. I heard that there was a time that he couldn’t post on Toms forum due to another poster. I wasn’t around then so I don’t really know or understand why…
I meant Vallejo Dave while posting on Toms Forum and enjoyed his humor, knowledge and friendship. It’s amazing the friendships we all develop on line looking for the Z.

Dave was a great guy and fun to chat with. Dave used to post alot at Toms site back then. Sometimes it seemed, when Dave first started posting on Toms site half the posts were by Dave. He knew alot about the bay area SF Vallejo etc. Herb Caen, Cal Berkeley, plus he was always nice to chat with about anything. He and some other posters at Toms site were good buddies, and VD would was usally freindly with anybody. They called him by a miltary name and he often used military slang or slogans. he used to post a picture of Herb Caen with big teeth with the caption "Herb Canine". Then he would say "What do you hear from ______ ?" (some crackpot poster), or "whats _____ been posting lately" someone who was banned from Tom’s site posting at another "Z" web site. Or when Dave would say "Buzz Buzz" and post his insect, butterfly, bird or nature photo in chat. Or when we got silly and tried to figure out who was the "mystery man" in Darlene ferrin’s photo.

I’m just a Johnny come lately in this Zodiac thing and I unfortunately didn’t have the privilege of even meeting Vallejo Dave in posting. For myself and others like me that was a beautiful summing up of his nature and humor. Very much appreciated.

I was on ZK probably started around 06. Don’t remember conversing with Dave much but read more then a few of his post. Seem like a great guy and don’t remember him ever attacking other posters. Seem like one of the good ones and will be missed and also saddened by the news!

Dave was a great guy with a wicked sense of humour. I remember how he and I used to joke about the possibility that he was Zodiac; he cracked up when I drew him a piece of artwork featuring a hooded Zodiac wearing an ‘I am not Vallejo Dave’ button. Until we meet again, my friend. Until we meet again.
