My pc is connected to my TV via HDMI which also carries audio so maybe that’s where my blip came from but I have my sound routed through the soundcard and not the HDMI sound on my graphics card. Maybe there’s something in the info in the stream though as it is radio and TV combined, could have caused an activation of my HDMI sound. It’s not disabled, just not set as my primary sound source.

Lucky you my laptop doesn’t have HDMI and got to be old school with VGA lol. Maybe that could be the problem though with your sound card and the HDMI.

Finally got to listen to all of it…great job Morf and Mike. I’d like you both to have another hour. :)

Glad you got to listen to it and my only complaint too and wished they both could have went on for another hour. They did a great job!

Great show, you guys! I hope lots of listeners will become interested in the Zodiac case. Really good explanation about ALA, Morf; people need to know that!

As for the phantom recording, it probably just opened the link in a new window and minimized it off the screen while the video played.

If that happens again and you have a PC, press control, alt, and "delete" to pull up your task manager and see what programs are running. Better than having to restart.

If you have a mac I think it’s something like alt, "apple", esc. Same basic thing.

Now I forgot what I was going to say on this actual topic…

Yes, we do like a bit of tech of talk some of us. If only ctrl z worked on memory eh DK?

There was something that struck me as I listened to the show. Patinky touched on it earlier when she said that you sounded like she thought you would. I thought your voice sounded younger than I expected. This of course got me thinking about Bryan H and his description of Z’s voice. I mean we know how old you are Mike and yet in my head there was something about your voice that made it feel younger to me.

It just got me wondering about how good we actually are at guessing age from voice. I think I’m rubbish at it but am I, or is it that I am rubbish but there’s also factors that can skew an estimate? – maybe even by as much as a decade. What was Bryan’s point of reference I wonder. He was a student and would spend a lot of time students – so maybe he was equating that Z’s voice was in a range that he was used to but maybe another way to put it would be – it wasn’t a child and it wasn’t an octogenarian so somewhere between 20 and 50. Even if we narrowed it to 25 – 35 that’s gotta be a pretty hard job to pinpoint age in that range.

So simply put, I don’t think there’s lot of trust that can be placed in how old Z was reported as sounding. Remember how shocked you were the first time you heard yourself recorded? "I don’t sound like that, do I?" – We don’t apparently even have a reliable reference for our own voice in our head.

I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb.

Good point Trav, but I think it was probably more than just the sound of his voice that made Bryan think of a younger man. And IF the 3 girls saw him, it would seem their take on the guys age was about the same. Not that someone still couldn’t be "off" by 10 years or so. Then we have Dave Slaight too. Of course Nancy who thought it sounded mature (like Gaikowski). I think that is why around 30 fits. Give or take.

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

I agree totally with the Z being about 30 in 1969 and that his voice had a younger sound than his yrs,, other than it was raspy. I have posted about that on another thread, when someone said that the recording I posted sounded too young for it to be Zodiac, I don’t sound my age either.

I listened to the show and enjoyed it very much, both Mike’s sounded knowledgeable about the case. How ever I don’t believe Paul Stine was Zodiac’s last, I think he continued just as he said he would and didn’t tell who and when he killed. I also think that there has been some correspondences that was believed to be done by a copy cat, that was truly Zodiac .
No way to prove it either way though. Even thee so called "experts" disagreed about some of those letters. I think the Pleasanton letter was mailed from there, because the Zodiac was on his way to Los Angeles( That would be the way to go if you lived in the bay area). He wanted to read that LA paper about himself when he got there is my belief.

It is my understanding that they do plan on doing more radio shows on Zodiac. So I hope you both will be on again ! I think it would be nice to have callers call in with questions .

Actually, I don’t know how old Morf is. Guessing from the radio show, I’d say 35-to-45, with age 38 being my choice. His phrasing and tone, inflection, as well as the sound or timbre of his voice sounded like I expected Morf to sound. I’d also say, judging by his voice, that he is about 5"11" or slightly taller and in good physical condition. Voices have always intrigued me. Listening is somewhat of a hobby for me. :geek:

Hartnell, irc, said the voice sounded familiar but he couldn’t place why. He also stated it had a drawl to it but not a southern drawl. I feel sure Morf isn’t the Zodiac.

When in doubt, don’t.

Close, 42,but I would settle for being 4 years younger :D

6 ft tall, but way out of shape :( I just lost 35 pounds, and need to lose at least another 50(too much time sitting behind a computer researching & reading)

I also like to listen to people and then see if their voice matches their looks, age, etc
