I was checking out more of Oscar’s IP addresses from his old postings on zodiackiller.com, and it certainly raises doubts about where he actually lived.
Here’s what I found when I ran the traces…

Oct. 24, 2000 — San Francisco
Oct. 29, 2000 — San Francisco
Nov. 1, 2000 — San Francisco
Nov. 3, 2000 — San Francisco
Nov. 17, 2000 — Escalon (near Stockon, California)
Jan. 17, 2000 — Newman, California

In a Sept. 29, 2000 posting, Oscar claimed he was in a common area in a dormitory. In another post, he mentioned living in Los Angeles. He also claimed to have been born in 1969 but was very, very knowledgeable about the 1960s. I’m guessing Oscar, who claimed to have extensive experience as an editor and journalist, actually lived in San Francisco and experienced the 1960s there firsthand. Odd that he was trying to make people think otherwise.

You’re welcome, Zam. It’s too bad we can’t use the IP addresses to determine who Oscar really was, but they do give us another example of Oscar’s seeming deceptions.

Drew,

Could you please forward me the list of IP numbers that you have currently? I seem to recall seeing a static IP from Anaheim that was Oscar related.

Thanks,

Wood

Notice in the posts below how Oscar gives Zodiac a pass on being a sociopath as well as a serial killer. And he even blames the police for doing poor work!

Oscar wrote…

Z was, arguably, an organized killer, rather than a disorganized one. Organized killers tend to be methodical and precise, because they are aware of the consequences of their deeds- they may have sociopathic tendencies but, by definition, they are not sociopaths. I speculate that Z knew exactly what he was doing, realized his targets were human, and as a result of this awareness was able to elude authorities through capable planning and poor policing.

Oscar wrote…

Also, I think we may be mistaken if we classify Zodiac as a serial killer, at least if using the accepted definition in practice today. As well, I’m beginning to believe that this case could be an elaborate game of smoke and mirrors- a cerebral shell game, if you will. But, alas, I’m sliding off topic.

Didn’t "Oscar" show up at Voigt’s board years after he vanished – and years after Gaikowski passed away? I seem to recall that – I was never a member over there, but I used to lurk around.

I have a pretty strong hunch that "New Oscar" and Vindog were one and the same. The word "amigo" was a giveaway.

Private Message from "New Oscar"…

The speculation on my URL was all wrong as well. I lived in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles at that time…no where else. I am a virtual luddite in comparison to most people in this day and age. I have technicolor thoughts and Amish fingers, Amigo.

Forum posting from "New Oscar" on zodiackiller.com…

Great site over there. Inspiring. Yeah, dumb*ss I know he is an author…in fact, amigo, he is the author who maintains that you are full of bull puckey with your Gaikowski theory. Yep, someone has your number and is on to the way you operate- little Tom and his mewling wee sycophants.
Oscar

Forum postings from Vin on zodiackiller.com…

But carry on mi amigo!!! On second though I’ll let you do the misspelling comparisons…it’s too much for me and I’m confident about the work I’ve done already on this years ago.
Vin

I’m just an amateur with pic programs but I’m pretty good. Just don’t think you could do it on a computer and have the same exact outcome.
Just my two cents mi amigo!
Vin

Poor Vin. I miss him.

If anyone posting on Tom’s board was Zodiac, it had to be Oscar.

Vin was always very adamant Oscar was not Gaikowski…..so if it was Vin pretending (at least with the "new" Oscar), he was right. :)

IP addresses (especially in the dial-up days) don’t always correlate with the physical location of the user.

Since Oscar was using Earthlink dial-up, that would have given him access numbers to all major cities in the USA. In fact, a researcher who examined Oscar’s IP history in great detail said that all of them, save for a static IP in Anaheim, traced back to the Bay Area. So it appears that Oscar was being deceptive with both his age and location.

This might be a dumb idea, but maybe you could try to contact people that the ebay user had made transactions with. yoshemp is no longer a registered user on ebay, but his/her page is still there. Maybe someone would remember interacting with him.

Maybe try contacting this guy here: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d … terval=365

EDIT: I clicked on all of the links to check out who was leaving feedback on yoshemp’s ebay page, and I think there is a good chance that was actually Gyke. Check this one out…

When people go out on a limb – and go really far – it’s always good to say "Hey, you are way out on a limb!"

Just being helpful.
