Zodyzap, you asked a few times for background checking services to find more locations on Ross, and I don’t think you are going to find anymore addresses, short of his Family cooperating. We have looked thru all kinds of phonebooks, and online, as well as hiring a private investigator, and his time from 1968 to 1977 is a mystery. All we know for sure is, he moved to the Bay area in mid 67, was arrested in Santa Cruz, early 68, and died in Santa Cruz, 1977. He had that conservatorship in Santa Cruz in between. Everything screams Santa Cruz, yet, we can find no records in phonebooks, etc for Ross in Santa Cruz. Maybe he lived in a boarding house??? I have looked very closely in Solano County,Vallejo area, and have not found anything ever connecting him there. If I could place him in Vallejo during the Z murders, and letters, it would be case closed in my mind

Morf , Thanks for replying and I agree, it would be case closed for me too lol

Wow Morf , it sounds like almost every single stone has been turn for Ross, its so weird, boarding house sounds possible for sure. Like we been saying (JeffP) the YMCA is good too and I don’t think much was needed to be able to stay there, along with Ross association, he’s good as in . That could be a high reason why he’s not in the phonebooks, they don’t need to list him just for staying there, but what if someone knew the family and is still associated? I mean people knowing them at the Y is just as good as classmates knowing them as well. It couldn’t hurt and its another way to find more on Ross

so we’d basically have to find someone who knew him in santa cruz between 68 and 77 but likely someone who isn’t related (as relatives don’t seem to want to talk)? i’m sure it’d be difficult but if anyone is left from the group home, they might have information on him as far as where he liked to hang out, people he associated with, etc.

I think Z, whomever he was, needed a place to store his guns, shirt pieces, hood, and to write letters, etc. I don’t think living in the YMCA would allow for that.

Not necessarily. I know there are YMCA owned and operated places in Los Angeles where you have your own private room and bathroom, but share other common areas, such as the kitchen. I had someone on my old caseload that was looking into living at one of their locations. He would have paid around $450 a month and had his own private space, as well as shared areas. He could have had anything in his room and no one would have known because it’s private just like any other apartment. They do have some additional rules (possibily a no drugs or alcohol rule and I’d imagine a no guns weapons), but over all you can do what you want and they do not go into your private room.

Here is an example, but this location does not have private bathrooms.

http://glenymca.org/residence.shtml

This location is actually in Glendale, which is where Ross went to High School. I do not know how long it has been around and it appears he never went back to Glendale after he left for Riverside, but I thought it was interesting that this was the first one what came up when I searched.

Susie,

Morf,

Just like Susie said, not necessarily, they don’t check your property (bags) and Ross probably didn’t even take those things in there, he could have had an outside stash area so he wouldn’t get caught with it on him? . Also it was said (RCC letter?) Ross had mentioned how he had to keep writing or something like that to keep from harming others or himself sounds pretty lonely.

We would need to find YMCA’s existing within 1957 to about 1974 , or maybe around 1963 to 1970 for the murders ( 1963 , 1968 , 1969 )

If classmates could remember him, associates with YMCA are just as good as well, the family and Ross were associated with YMCA since as far as even New York, that’s a lot of years. Not to mention what if a YMCA can place him Vallejo ?and its overlooked, or by Lake Berryessa? , or by Presidio Heights?

I sent emails to almost 2 dozen fellow classmates of Ross from his High School, and not one responded to me. The only people that have discussed him are from RCC

They probably don’t remember him. I contacted someone who went to the same high school as Ross and he responded. But he had no recollection of Ross in school.

Ross strikes me as someone who didn’t have many (if any) friends. I think the reason people from the RCC era remember him was because of Ross’ brother. I think Timothy’s friends were the closest thing Ross ever had to friends.

I think we’d be better off locating people at the YMCA. Ross might be remembered because his father was likely a big person there.

How do you know he was in the Patton Hospital from 1961 to 1964? I knew he was there, I had never heard he was there that long though.

Didn’t RCC say he was bragging about being there and how he said he escaped? didn’t the letter say something like 1961? or starting from a month in 1961 to sometime in 1964?

JeffP ,

hey Jeff you knew he was there? , how long was Ross in there for?
