They used to run a lot of the old Hammer Films horror movies a couple of decades ago on local stations but they are too old for modern audiences, now.

Just watched the Amityville Horror last night, (the original)and still creeps me out. I found this recent article about the case-

They filmed that move in Tom’s River,NJ about 20 minutes from my house, although the case really happened on Long Island

Exorcist 3 really gives me a scare. When those catatonic women are climbing on the ceilings, and they use that big limb cutting instrument to cut off the nurses heads, forget about it.

I have been getting into the work of Adam Green lately. The Hatchet movies are really cool, as was his sitcom, Holliston (which features Dee Snider of Twisted Sister and Oderus Urungus of GWAR – RIP). I also like Green’s work because he often uses my future wife, Danielle Harris.

This is my 666th post on this site!!!

These aren’t really horror, well not all of them, but film makers need to stop with the joining of two animals or an animal and an object or a _____ vs _____ movie. STOP IT!! … Sharknado is a good example (there are 4 Sharknado movies… Ian Ziering and Tara Reid are the stars so that tells you how much they suck)… Sharktopus, Pteracuda, Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda, Dinoshark, Crocosaurus, Zombeavers (this one was at least a little bit funny), WolfCop ("Here Comes the Fuzz" catchy haha), Mega Shark vs. Kolossus etc….. Bunny the Killer Thing? "A group of Finnish and British people get stuck to a cabin when a creature which is a half human, half rabbit, attacks on them. The creature is Bunny the Killer Thing, and it is after anything that is resembling female genitals." Funny idea, but horrible movie. I recently watched some new movie about the ghost of a teenage girl killing a bunch of her classmates while messing with them on the internet. Can’t remember the name, but it was easily the dumbest movie ever made.

Most horror movies these days are shitty "the haunting of ______ manor" type movies or "the possession of ____ _______" type movies. Those are garbage and totally unoriginal. Although, the Incidious movies are pretty good.

The entire film industry is crap. For every good movie made there are 25,000 crappy ones. Can’t say many movies lately have got me excited. I absolutely HATE remakes and all of the originality is taking a back seat to these damn remakes. If you’re gonna do a remake, do something a little different with it! Most movies that have a good story end up being ruined by a terrible cast because it’s the thing to do now – cast some no talent d-bag like Jonah Hill, Michael Cera or Jesse Eisenberg.

I really liked the idea behind the Purge movies, but they were still not very good. They had potential to be excellent flicks. The second one was ok, but the first one was boring. The acting wasn’t bad, but not great. But, again, the idea of the movies are awesome.

Whatever happened to good old fashioned slasher flicks???

Ok, end of rant. Sorry.

I think that a good deal of those movies are from "The Asylum" which produces movies – on purpose, I think – that are "So bad they are Good." I dunno, I’ve seen a few, at least I get a laugh or two.

EDIT: SharkNado — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbHylGqwi90

EDIT 2: Ophion, what did you think of "It Follows?" I recommend it earlier, I thought it was really well done. In fact, I liked it enough that I watched the whole thing twice, and I never do that.

I think it was called Unfriended. I wanted to see that, it looked pretty funny.

I started watching, but haven’t finished, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, which is a modern vampire story. The director is an Iranian American woman, so that is the cultural setting for the film. An original idea, but it’s merely subtext and doesn’t really add anything deep to the film outside of a setting.

That was the same problem I had with It Follows. It left me wanting a deeper meaning to the symbolism of the film that just wasn’t really there. It’s pretty much a simple and straightforward story. It was more creative than A Girl, but both films I felt valued style over substance. But that’s OK, I prefer an artistic movie to the typical CGI explosionfest.

Another film I haven’t seen, but I think fits the same theme is Under The Skin.

I liked "It Follows" and I don’t care what anyone thinks, LOL. That was damned original film-making, to me.!!

No, I liked It Follows. It was one of the better films I saw this year. Amazing soundtrack. I just can’t help but be a film critic, especially if it’s a movie that I liked. If it’s dumb, then there is no point in thinking about it.

Amazing soundtrack.

It was. Very atmospheric and sometimes overlooked (the importance of) these days in horror films. It was reminiscent of ‘Halloween’ for me in this aspect.

It Follows was pretty decent. Unfriended was the movie I had mentioned. I would recommend not wasting time on that movie, it is awful.
