Without them thinking you are psycho? haha. Just because I spend all my time talking about murderers, doesn’t mean I am one, I promise!

How has this conversation gone for you with friends and family?

I don’t. If I did, the first question would probably be either "What’s a Zodiac?" or "Can you read my horoscope for me?". If I then explained that Zodiac is an unsolved serial killer case… well, they would probably think I was a psycho so… I don’t.

I told them, and they all left. I can’t understand it.

You guys have friends?

Yes, we boughtened them through mail order before the ban went into effect.

I usually broach the subject with people. Get the same response Duck said "what’s a Zodiac". I then tell them, serial killer, San Fran, Late 60’s then I mention the film and that usually gets "I kinda remember that, Jake Gyllenhaal?". Yes, then I tell them (enthusiastically) about the letters and ciphers and the hood. I also say that you guys are all professionals, to make up for how weird it’s all starting to feel. "We have professional people you know, we’re not just a bunch of morbid internet trolls" I just think that bit. :D

Then I return to my corner with overshare remorse lol.

I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb.

Funny you should ask because just the other day I had my first hookup with a nice woman I met through an online dating service and she asked me about my hobbies.

When I explained that I spent most of my free time and most of my work time on this site she just stared at me looking quite repulsed.

So then I told her that I was doing it because I wanted to be a serial killer myself one day. She stared at me in disbelief for another straight minute, then finally she said, "Well, I glad you cleared that up, because at first you were sounding a little creepy."

FYI. This was just a joke.

I would never use an online dating service.

My friends and family think I’m a little loony to begin with so it’s not a problem!

Duck, people are interested in true crime. If you have cable or satellite TV there are at least a half a dozen true crime shows on at any one time. Somebody is watching all those shows!

These message boards (and some close friends) are my outlet. Otherwise, I tell no one nothing.

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

Telling no-one nothing no-how never, nuh-uh seems a reasonable way to go, I’ve found.
I was joking in my earlier post (of course!), but since if I get on the subject I also find I have to thrash on a bit about alphabetic frequencies and homophonic ciphers as well, it does tend to make people’s eyes glaze over a bit.
Well, a lot.
It can be difficult to talk about Zodiac at times, can’t it?
Especially if you explain a things, then follow up with "Well, actually, I currently believe that no, he didn’t actually exist….".
That’s always the clincher.

My Wife thinks I am crazy, and is always telling me not to put my name out there worrying that he may come out looking for me, If he shows up, he won’t find an unarmed teenager necking in a car,I have something for him.

My Friends and co-workers know about my Z stuff, and they sometimes make fun of it,and think I am nuts, and then all of a sudden, I catch them asking questions and coming up with theories.. :D

I’m not worried about Zodiac stalking me, but others out there who may disagree with me? That’s another story.

If I am ever missing or killed, I think most of you know who to look for. ;)

Me the reactions are different, some friends or interested, others began researching the subject, (form a team zodiac and exchange ideas), as the family, my wife loves the series and genre films, then all normal and as my children, they, when they see me looking at something on the Z, are already asking me "And then father took the zodiac?!" (lol)

It’s not really a hobby for me. It’s an interest.
