Nice find, Morf – I started a thread a long while ago now about the Lompoc sniper taking pot-shots at surfers around the time of the Domingos/Edwards murder, this would certainly tie in with the pattern if they are related.
The psychology of a sniper is also very interesting, they are a rare breed of soldier – and although it is hard to reconcile the popular Z profiles with the same mindset as a professional sniper, a failed sniper is a very intriguing possibility.

Maybe he was a hunter. He mentions the most dangerous game, maybe he was a hunter in his youth and he saw the movie and was inspired to hunt humans.

Those Lompoc sniper incidents in the days before the Domingos & Edwards murders, I strongly suspect are linked to their murders.
