There is big time flooding in the Bay Area today. But it got me thinking of this Zodiac letter where he mentions:
"my bus bomb was a dud. I was swamped out by the rain we had a while back."
Does this mean Z lived in an area that flooded? SF doesn’t tend to flood that much (even though it did today).
One clue I found was that the Napa river flooded back in Jan 1970, three months before his letter.
January 1970—Heavy precipitation falling upon water-logged soils caused the Napa River to overtop its
banks and inundate lands and roads around St. Helena.
Paul,
The common presumption was that the flooding was tied into Z’s basement. It probably would take less to flood a basement.

Given the fact that every translation of the Z letters are assumptions I wouldn’t discount anything. Given that he stated he was swamped out by the rain I agree that his basement makes sense, but we really don’t know for sure. Maybe the field or area he wanted to put the bomb in was "swamped out". Personally speaking I do not think that Z ever intended to bomb anything. I think it was just a scare tactic and saying the rain prevented it is simply an excuse. But that’s just my opinion.
Appears to be correct that Z somehow was influenced by any floss..good find imo, Best wishes from Samnaus skiing resort..

Guadalupe Creek runs within a couple of hundred yards from Agnews Hospital. It has seen flooding many times.
The USGS report on San Francisco Regional Report indicates a number of areas of repeated flooding. The Guadeloupe River flooded in 1969. As previously mentioned the Agnew grounds were very close to that river.
I found this rather randomly. I was trying to find images for Park Hq at Berryessa and of course a load of Zodiac stuff came up. That kinda makes me wonder if this came up because it’s been on a Zodiac site somewhere but I saw no mention of that in the reference. Still, I didn’t see it here so I thought it I’d post it in case it might be relevant. (Apologies if it’s been covered and perhaps Holmes has already seen this?)
Naturally it involves flooding. I found it interesting because it stands out from the norm (existing as a recorded event/s) and it involves a relevant area. It pertains to 1963 and mentions 1953. There may be later occurrences but I’m just posting this as I find it. I’m posting a link to the PDF file and I’ll post the intro/description pages and one of the map pages here as images.
Thanks for posting Trav, may prove to be helpful

There was a couple of big storms that hit the Bay Area the weekend of December 20th 1969. Marin county was hit quite hard with extensive flooding. It’s likely that other areas of the Bay Area were also hit with flooding. The timing of this flooding would be in keeping with Zodiac writing in the April 20, 1970 letter that his bomb was damaged in the flooding " a while back".
Water was reported 4ft deep in the basement of Ralph Hyet at 318 butterfield rd.

The only problem is, this Guy never lived in Riverside so the RH means nothing. Only if somebody actually lived in Riverside 66-67 would the RH initials be of importance
