one other thing that has always bugged me is the lower case "rh"..who does that?..almost screams teenage female to me..my daughters went thru stages were that did some crazy doodling because it was "cute"..whatever but it still bugs me why the great Z would pen authorship with lower case initials..not really buying that desktop poem was work of Z..
Again, isn’t this a case of picking and choosing?? You are of the opinion that Z may have written the confession letter but NOT the desktop. If that’s the case, maybe he wrote none of the Bates stuff.

I think this entire case has been about picking and choosing.
I meant more along the lines of picking and choosing which things Morrill was right or wrong about.

Do we actually know for a fact that Morrill confirmed the Confession?
It seems very odd that he would, for my money. It’s a tiny exemplar, capital letters, etc.
Plus, we have every reason to think that whoever wrote it was afraid of being identified, as indicated by the use of multiple carbons. In other words, it seems very unlikely that the writing on the envelope is natural. Morrill claimed that Z’s printing WAS natural, which makes it even stranger.
My guess – and it’s only a guess – is that Morrill confirmed the desktop and the notes, and then added that it’s possible that the same hand was responsible for the Confession envelope. That’s what the SFPD believed, I think – that was their working hypothesis, i.e. that the same man (Z) was behind the whole package.
BTW, we should also keep in mind that there were two Confession envelopes, one of which we have never seen. Perhaps there was more to go on – for Morrill – with the unknown envelope. Seems like a stretch, but we can’t know for sure.

He confirmed the Bates case envelopes, although I don’t know which envelope(s) he used. I do recall that Morill was more impressed with the envelopes as opposed to the letters themselves.

From the yellow book about Morrill’s findings in the Bates case writings:
After 4 days of study, Morrill stated that the Bates confession letter s were “Unquestionably” by Zodiac. The writing scratched on the desk matches the 3 letters “particularly” the envelopes. And this hand printing was prepared by the same person that has been mailing letters to the Chronicle.
As far as the confession letter, “This doesn’t look anything like Zodiac’s writing”, The expert then looked at the envelope and said, “this begins to look alike now”. He stared at the envelope. “This is what gives it away”.
