yes, the old board will be phased out. Everything there is here now (with the exception of posts made from 6/28/21 to 7/7/21 or so)

Morf, can we leave the old site up as an archive? That way the old links to specific topics will work. I have many such links from my site that link back to those.
Ideally, the old link would translate to where the topic lives in the new site.
For example, I link to this topic:
http://zodiackillersite.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=4805
If you totally remove the old forum, the link will break, and it won’t redirect people to the right place.
Also, the old website now only says “Sorry but this board is currently unavailable”. Consider adding a comment directing to the new board. Otherwise, people who did not follow the updates may be lost, not knowing where to find the new board.

That would also fix presently broken links on Google and other search engines.
Is anyone else having an issue accessing the website? If I try to do it thru my phone it says it forbidden. Same when I was using my GF’s laptop a few hours ago.
The old website is not accessible at all to prevent people from using it and posting there, and it will not be accessible moving forward
But once again, every post, every picture, etc made at the old site up until around the end of June, 2021 can be found right here in this forum!

For me it’s this website that is not accessible. I can’t access it on my phone or on a different laptop.
There must be a way to run some code to update all the links from zodiackillersite.com… to zodiackiller.net…, surely? Some sort of search and replace thing?
It is annoying to see a link that you want to read and then it doesn’t work because it links to the old site.
Also all the search links still link to the old site, maybe there is a way to get the search engines to update them to point here?
@urik True (link to new site missing)…I almost got lost in space.
The search function has become worse, imo, so did the overview (font type larger than previously??). Also, I preferred blue over red font colour. Technically the new one might be better, eg file size, but those two issues..well.

Why not just fix your own broken links as you see them. I just fixed a broken link on one of my posts, added tags and, it took less than 3 minutes.

But some people have hundreds of posts, some with multiple links in. Computers are supposed to make things easier, surely there is an automated solution to this rather than making people do hours of arduous and boring work?
The way to handle changed URLs is with something called 301 Redirects. You tell the webserver to direct a URL like this:
http://www.zodiackillersite.com/viewtopic.php?t=3188
To a new URL like this:
At some point in the site change, the old posts were probably exported, then imported to the new site.
Morf, if you can send me those files I can probably generate the 301 redirects to make the old URLs work.

Is it possible, maybe, to make use of what’s been archived on the Wayback Machine, such as at https://web.archive.org/web/20201212191528/https://www.zodiackillersite.com/ ?
EDIT: Ah, yeah. But the original site needs to be still active?

I wish we could go back to the old forum, I miss it ?

The original site doesn’t need to be active, so that’s good. A couple of quick ideas:
Monitor 404 errors and set up 301 redirects to the copy on The Wayback Machine. If the site uses WordPress, you can use the Redirection plugin.
If you have a list of the old URLs, you could probably figure out how to set up a huge number of old URLs to either the new URLs or to the URLs on The Wayback Machine. Would require some work, but probably doable.
