Zodiac is definitely dead.

I think the Zodiac died sometime in the Seventies. I think his ‘Red Phantom" and "Exorcist" letters in 1974 were his "Last Hurrahs." I’m not convinced Ross Sullivan was the Zodiac, but it could have been a man with a similar failing health issue that lead to his death by 1975 or so.

I believe our friend was very possibly still alive as of 10 years ago.

I have a feeling he is about to prove in this coming year , that he is still alive and doing his "thing". But most of you wouldn’t believe that it is him even if he sent another part of Paul’s Stine’s shirt.

I´m led to believe that he either died or that he was incarcerated for life after 1974 (being tha last option more improbable). For 2 reasons:

1 – When the Zodiac copycat, Heriberto Seda, commited his crimes and sent his letters, this was obviously publicized all over the country. If the real Zodiac was alive and well at the time, I believe his ego could not have been contained and he had to start again writing again in the early 90´s, to claim that the killings in New York were not of his doing and to insult the New York Z. Since there are no recorded letters of that time by someone else claiming to be the Zodiac (besides Seda´s letters), this leads me to believe that the original Zodiac was dead or roting in prison.

2 – On average, males have lower life-span then females, and IMO that increases the probability that he is dead.

Definitely dead. A long time ago.

I personally think Z is dead, whomever he was. I don’t think he could ever stay quiet for too long, and his persona was likely what made him feel ‘important’ or ‘recognized’.
After all of the publicity,books,movies,etc, I don’t think he could resist reaching out. Maybe, he died unexpectedly or suddenly? I have always thought that Z might be bold enough to leave a confession letter & evidence to be discovered after his death by Family etc.

My gut feeling is that Ross Sullivan was likely Zodiac, so his death in 1977, and Ross’s infirmary in 1974 when the Z letters stopped,(after he took a mental & physical turn for the worse)lines up well with Zodiac. Whether or not I am right about Ross being Z, who knows.

The bus bomb diagrams were made by someone who had a reasonable knowledge of electronics…definitely not a novice or an amateur. I wish Rodelli and Dean had interviewed both Lindsey and Rebecca Robbins in 2003 and showed them both a real photo lineup with pictures of several suspects, including Ross Sullivan, rather than just pictures of Kjell Qvale.

Statistically, Zodiac is probably dead. Most people, especially of that era, didn’t live to 75. Lindsey Robbins, who was likely half Zodiac’s age, is now dead. So, there you go. If he survived to 2020, Covid probably got him.

Right! He wasn’t going to let Seda steal his thunder. Also, the NYC Zodiac killings spanned several years (Seda was inactive for two years while police set up an increased presence in his neighborhood). I can’t imagine that Zodiac doesn’t write in that timeframe if he were still alive (unless he was in jail, out of the country, or institutionalized).

I also think there is a possibility that Zodiac was killed by police. Would police even know they got Zodiac if he was just a random suspect killed during the commission of a murder or its immediate aftermath? The NYPD had no idea that they had the copycat Zodiac in custody when the booked Seda for domestic violence. What if Zodiac tried a Radetich style killing and got killed by police or an armed citizen in the process? No one would ever be the wiser.

Or he copied it out of one of the 150 counterculture newspapers that used to publish such things. Or he was buddies with a disillusioned Vietnam vet who was happy to share such info. There are many options for Zodiac not having any personal expertise.

Ross was barely on the radar back then. He didn’t attain true notoriety until someone posted his yearbook photos here.

Zodiac could very much be alive, quite a few dinosaurs still walking around. Both my grandmothers are still walking around and live on their own just fine,……for the most part. They were both born in the 1930’s. One has an OLDER brother, who him and his wife are still alive. He was elected sheriff for almost 30 years straight,….he’s a bit of a dick though,……

He could also be very dead. I always hoped that something would strike Zodiac’s nerves and make him write back in the way BTK did. Maybe he did, and law enforcement isn’t talking.

I see my name being abused here, so let me set the record straight. Let me clarify that the only reason we sent Lindsey a photo of Qvale and not a "photo line up" is that the day before Lindsey had said that he had never seen Qvale wearing glasses and with short hair. So we sent him a photo to prove that Qvale did look like that in the 1960s. It was not our intention to do a photo line up just to show him that he was mistaken when he said that Qvale had never worn glasses. There was a time when Qvale wore glasses but it predated that time when Lindsey had met him.

So stop with the photo line up stuff. Our intent was simply to prove our point.

And as for the person who said that Walter is probably wrong as often as he is right about profiles, I guess you do not know Walter. Also, if you look at the traits of a power-assertive individual, they fit almost every adjective people have used to describe Zodiac since 1999 (aloof, condescending, superior, the need to boast about his crimes, etc.). Like it or not, the profile fits.
