I just ordered the brand new re-release of Fincher’s Zodiac on 2 disc Blu Ray. It’s been out of print now for a while. The disc is due to be released sometime in January, and I just ordered it. I just finally got a Blu Ray dvd player for Christmas, and the jump in quality so far is amazing,so I hope that the Blu Ray version of Zodiac looks great.
Since it has been out of print, new copies of the 2 disc version have been selling on Ebay for $40-$100,I bought mine for $9.95 at the Warner Brothers official store website

Great Documntaries included in the 2 disc set

I assume the 2007 zodiac was a medium to big hit out west and in SF area . but in middle America releasing it in mid march was the worst timing . with cold snowy weather . A summer to late fall release and it could have been a big hit .

I think it will get a good bit of attention being on Netflix and was the top movie on there for a week or so. That is a good thing and help inform others about the case that aren’t familiar.

Phenomenal Blu Ray, one of the best I have seen.

Zodiac was the first disc I bought on Blu after buying my Playstation (in 09, I think?). I worked at a Blockbuster at the time and paid about $35.99 (after employee discount!!) for the 2 disc Director’s cut.

Cease: Do you happen to know if the Blu Ray contains any additional material that’s not on the DVD director’s cut?

It’s identical, just an all around better experience.

By the way, there were a couple very interesting extras that did not make it to the DVD collection-

Geographic Profiling, Writing Profiling, and one more profiling related piece. These videos, in my opinion, are MUST WATCH type of stuff, very interesting. I think we posted them someplace here on this site, but I forget where

YAY, here’s the Rossmo video:
http://www.zodiacmovie.com /”> http://web.archive.org/web/200901141939 … movie.com/

Click on ‘geographic profiling’. They even allow you to download the video!

Rossmo states, that if Zodiac was active today, "it would not be too difficult to find this person"

Also of interest, are the other videos for ‘linguistic analysis’ (they look at ALA’s writing habits…word breaks etc, would be very intgeresting when looking at other suspects like manalli with odd habits in writing),and view the ‘behavioral profiling’ as well.

The guy that does the linguistic profiling, is Dr. Gerald McMenamin. He has agreed to have a look at the 50 something pages of Manalli’s stuff from the old forum to see what he finds. The bad news is, he said he is busy, and it may take a while to do it. I am interested in what he finds. I tried to condense it down to some obvious stuff which seems easy to spot, at my blog http://www.zodiackillersite.blogspot.com

Click on "Download and view exclusive behind the scenes interview and footage" link just under the packaging images. Then the videos are listed under the video that starts playing automatically.

I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb.

I watched the blu-ray the other night. It’s a damn good movie and the blu-ray format does it justice – unlike many other movies, I might say. I had only watched it in DVD quality previously – and I must say the night time scenes in particular look stunning in higher resolution.

The problem with it remains the same, though – if you know anything about the case, all the Graysmith-isms are impossible to ignore! But regarded purely as a work of art, it’s a brilliant movie, I think. The Graysmith character is great – as are those of Toschi and Armstrong. Too bad it’s fiction, eh?

PS Oh, and Downey Jr is obviously great as Avery – that goes without saying.

I watched it with director commentary the other day. It’s worth it, as Fincher offers a lot of his opinions (skeptical about Riverside, adamantly denies Johns as a Z victim), and addresses many of the Graysmithisms. he essentially says that the ending, with Robert accepting Allen as the Zodiac, was a sort of pyrrhic victory – that he needed hero cop Toschi to validate his pet theory so he could put it behind him and get back to the real life he’d been neglecting in favor of his obsession. The film doesn’t necessary endorse the Allen-as-Zodiac stance which a lot of people (myself included) thought was the case. It’s a great film.

Just FYI
I found Brad Fischer and James Vanderbilt at Mythology Entertainment and emailed them about my finding Cheri’s jo’s items and my story … even it you/ they believe it’s untrue it would make a great story for a movie .

Fincher has said he needs to read every serial killer script that comes to Hollywood and he is obsess with the Zodiac one

I am watching the special feature on the blu-ray where they interview Mike Mageau.

He says something, in amongst his rambling that really stood out to me. When talking about how he felt about her dying he said he felt guilty because "I was there to protect her".

Protect her from who, Mike?
