Thanks for posting this link, morf! Man… I sit at work for 8 hours every night, often bored, and try to find stuff to watch on youtube. I have watched so many good movies, all the videos of my favorite stand-up comedians, all the documentaries I have found on things that I am interested in, listed to tons of music etc. Now I have something new to watch, so thank you!! On a side note, I have been interested in the Zodiac case for years. Read some books, then watched the 2007 (?) movie, and read some stuff prior to that online. I started this job a year and a half ago, and that is when I started reading stuff from forums. There are a lot of great people doing research and coming up with some amazing evidence and theories!! I just recently decided to start posting, so thank you for having me!

A sort of recent (Dec. 2012) interview with Tom Hanson, filmmaker of this movie. He talks extensively about making the movie and about the ploy to try to catch Zodiac with a trap designed to get people’s handwriting to compare to known Zodiac writing. Interesting stuff!

Great Article, Thanks for posting Seagull! I love the ploy to catch Zodiac! I sent this to Sandy, as she has spoke of Ron Pimentel in the past, who was mentioned towards the end of the article.

If Zodiac ever joined a Z forum, I’m sure he would have been banned for not following forum rules. Zam’s/Quote

Yes thanks Seagull, that was a long but interesting read. The card that was put in that box at the theater that I felt could be Zodiac was the one that read : SFPeeDEE or something like that.
It was funny how I met Ron Pimentell, it was after I had read the Zodiac book, I knew the name was a Portuguese name, I am one as you know.
One afternoon while working in Oakland, a man and two women came in to have some drinks. The man went right over to the piano and one of the women said : Ron please play —( I don’t remember the song). But I noticed that he looked Portuguese and his name was Ron so I asked him if he was Ron Pimentell ? LOL it was , I told him about my run in’s with the man I felt could be the Zodiac. He gave me all of his phone numbers including his car phone. We spent hours talking about the Z, he had his own suspect. That suspect could very well have been Tom Hanson’s suspect?
Ron wanted to see my suspect, so when ever he came in to stare at me I would go to the phone in the office and tell Ron to come quick . My POI somehow knew when ever I made a call, then I realized that the phone buttons behind the bar would light up, when ever someone was on the phone, so he could see the lights. He would leave before Ron would get there. Ron called me once to tell me that the white car I described my POI had been driving, was parked at the curb in front of Ron’s office, with a older man just sitting there. Ron died a yr or so after that, I have no idea how ? Ron told me that it was he and his partner who busted Dave Toschi on the hand written note. I wasn’t happy about that , because I didn’t feel that Dave wanted to make it look like it was from the Zodiac. Toschi was the one Det that I felt had a handle on the Zodiac case. He would listen to everything I had to say, not at all like the others I spoke to after him. Toschi would check out everything to make sure I was telling the truth. The others never checked anything , they just assumed that it was a made up story. I hope they kept the glass I gave them that has the suspects prints and DNA on the glass he drank a Bloody Mary out of. No kidding it was a Bloody Mary !
I just found this article online and was going to post a link to it, but I see someone beat me to it awhile ago. If you haven’t read this interview I could suggest that you do. It is very interesting.
Just in case the above link no longer works. Here it is http://templeofschlock.blogspot.com/201 … n.html?m=1
Thank you for the link to the movie, as well as to the interview with Tom Hanson, director of the film.
I must admit I thought the movie was fast paced and very interesting. I was more interested in the early attacks because they were based on actual events. The attack at the like was gruesome and was well filmed. The latter murders were rather over the top and some were funny and something the 3 Stooges would have done. It was interesting how the Zodiac carried a paper bag around with items such as wigs, glasses and fake noses. The young man who played the Zodiac was very convincing as a monster hiding behind a smile.
What are my fellow posters thoughts about the interview with Mr. Hanson? The idea that the movie was used to lure the real Zodiac into a trap is fascinating. He stated that they caught a fellow who lived in a nearby transient hotel and worked in a bank. He said that 7 years later this POI was a mail carrier, married to a Japanese woman and living in Daly City. Hanson accused the police of stealing his evidence and taking $1,000 from him for helping him with the investigation. Those are pretty powerful statements.
It was also interesting that Mr. Hanson said that Robert Graysmith misrepresented the entire account in his book.
I’m really interested in other people’s comments about this movie and interview. Sandy Betts, are you out there? I think I read somewhere that you had meet one of the Oakland detectives that Hanson mentioned.
Sandy, I reread your post at the top. Very interesting material. I am interested in reading a book about the Zodiac Hunters like Morf, Sandy, Tom Voigt, Tom Hanson and so on.

Hmm I wonder who that individual is who he suspected being Z. I don’t reckon it’s him, but it’s would definitely be interesting to research it

I have been trying like hell lately to figure out who Tom Hanson’s suspect is. There is a small chance that I will have the name soon… we’ll see.

Yesterday it was announced that Hanson’s Zodiac movie will be released on BluRay later in the year. Glad I never got it on DVD, now I can get the BluRay.
